Dream memory is strongest immediately after waking up from a dream, so you'll get the most detail in your DJ if you at least take some quick notes during the night. If you don't want to do that, you could just mentally review the dreams on each waking and try to keep a list in your head throughout the night (but this still can take time, and requires noticing the waking). Or you could just spend your effort on recalling the dreams from the last waking of the night. But I think recall and LD progress comes faster when you reach for recall on every waking.
