figuring out what im missing - getting serious about lucid dreaming
hey yall, just made my account. figured id find better info here since reddit and youtube seems to get spammed with misinformation
right now, i do reality checks as often as i can remember (usually only 3-4 times a day) and i write down dreams whenever i wake up with enough energy to do so (every other day now). ive been doing these on and off for about 5 years, and have also tried wake-back-to-bed. however, i have only had about a dozen instances of lucidity, and even fewer of these lasted more than a few seconds before waking up. only TWO of these have ever allowed me full control over the dream. my sleep schedule is consistent within a few hours, so nothing wildly different each night. sometimes i go to sleep repeatedly telling myself i'll get lucid but that makes no difference.
my goals for lucid dreaming are to explore the worlds i long for and meet the characters i love. to be fully transparent, i struggle a lot with some serious mental health stuff so i crave escapism of any kind. i have some seriously strong feelings about the world around me and my life situation and i want to go somewhere ideal and live a fantasy life, and lucid dreaming seems to be the closest thing i can get. plus, i might learn something about myself too. ive tried meditating as well, but i often forget to try and struggle to put new things into my routine. alarms and sticky notes dont work, ive tried. maybe i just dont have the will to do that :|
anyways, id love to learn more about lucid dreaming and if anyone finds this interesting and has questions feel free to ask, and especially if you have advice id love to hear. thank you.
