      Was this a lucid dream?

I've been reading about lucid dreaming lately and only found out that this stuff existed maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago. Anyway a few days ago I had a dream that seemed really detailed and vivid but I don't remember any touch senses or anything like that, only sight. Well as I was having the dream I *think* I realized that it was a dream and decided to make a giant purple flower materialize in front of me (I was in a big field of small purple flowers). It started appearing but then started dissolving and it felt like I was waking up, so then I stopped and continued dreaming.

So my question is, how do I know if I was actually having a lucid dream or if I just dreamed that I was having a lucid dream? I'm not too sure myself

If you knew you were dreaming, its a lucid dream. Of course there are different levels to it. Sometimes you might know its a dream...but might not be fully aware...if that makes sense. Well, it sounds like you were at worst, having a cool dream which was close to lucid.

Yea that's what is wierd to me... I'm not sure if I was actually aware that I was dreaming and voluntarily decided to make the flower, or if the flower-making was a part of my dream that I just dreamed without choosing to do it, if you get what I mean. Also, after waking up from a lucid dream, do you have very good memories of it as if you were really physically there and did what you did in your dream?

Hi there It sounds like a low leevl lucid dream to me. When I wake up from a lucid dream, I usualy feel like it was a dream, unless it was supper high. If i have a large blow out level Lucid Dream, I feel like I was physicily there.

And welcoem back gameover!!!! where have you been?

for me, memory of lucid dreams are stronger...but even they can fade and distort quickly. If I write my dream down immediately after waking, the memory stays with me indefinately. I can still recall perfectly every dream ive written down.

Yea when I woke up it still felt like it had been a dream, but I remembered it good, at least the part where I made the flower appear and some other parts. Now that I've been thinking about it, I think I remember seeing an Everglades environment (like the Florida Everglades) with purple flowers everywhere, and then I realized that I had been reading that from my biology textbook and that it can't be real since I have never been to Florida or seen anything like it in real life. So I guess it was a lucid dream, and I did make the flower appear consciously? I don't know why a flower though, but I remember that I was looking at the nature around me and enjoying it so maybe that's why. I remember that the flower was appearing in front of me and things started going black and swirling so I stopped making the flower and it disappeared, and then the dream continued but I don't think it was lucid anymore.
