Hi - New member & new experience
Hi all - I'm a relatively new discoverer of lucid dreams. Before I had my first ever lucid dream last week, I have always been a bit of a skeptic. I don't believe in ghosts, supernatural, UFOs etc., but my recent experience was a bit of a shock to me.
I'd heard of lucid dreaming, astral projection etc in the past, but I'd never actually experienced them before.
Last week, I was suffering from a bout of insomnia. I tried a trick that I'd heard from a friend, basically a meditation device that she uses when she has trouble sleeping. I lay on my back, relaxed each part of my body from toes to head, then tried to 'see' colours and shapes with my eyes closed. Now logically, I'd say that all I was doing was trying to view retinal reactions and pulses, but the trick worked, and I fell asleep.
My dream was very vivid. It came in several parts (forgivve me if this is sort of revelation is all old and boring on this forum, but it's an experience that I need to get out)
Initially, I was a kid back at school. In the dream, I was being sent to the principal for something I didn't do, and my dad was with me. We entered into the principal's office, and my dad and the principal started talking about everything other than the reason that bought us there. I wanted to say something, to apologise, to plead innocent and to appeal, but my dad and the principal were talking about stocks, shares, cars, sport and politics. While I was sat in the chair, I 'grew' to my adult self. We stood up once the conversation was over and as we left, I ran back into the office and said "I'm sorry sir, but I promise you I didn't do it"
Then the dream went lucid. I was in the school corridoor, alone. Something had happened in my mind, like a light switch turning on, and I realised I was in my own dream. I walked around for a while, seeing the environment as I remembered it 20 years ago, then walked into the school hall. I remember thinking "Hang on, this is different. It shouldn't look like this", and the hall changed right in front of me.
After this, I lost lucidity, but got it back again, and this time, it was a weirder (and a bit scarier) experience.
I was in bed when I heard my son knocking on the door. He said he could hear something downstairs. I got up out of bed, opened the door, and recreated my exact steps to where I thought the noise was. As I was going down the stairs, something didn't feel 'right', and I could sense that I was in a dream again. So with that in mind, I descended, went to the room, opened the door, and light flooded in......
After opening the door, I found myself back in my bed again. I thought I'd woken up from the dream, and as I settled down to sleep again, I heard my son's voice right in my ear, saying "Dad". I jumped, and woke up then.
I was unnerved by this, and got up, wandered around the house (nothing out of the ordinary), and checked on my son (fast asleep). I remember feeling very unnerved by the experience, but also curious and eager for it to happen again. I've spent the past week reading up on lucid dreaming, trying to find a reason for what happened, and if it can be induced. I've been trying the relaxation technique my friend showed me again, but other than having a good night's sleep, haven't had any success.
Well, anyway, that's my intro, that's my reason for me being here, and that's the experience I had. Thanks for reading.
