Possible Dreamsign?
Hey all. I've been working on dream recall/ reality testing, and unfortunately i've had almost no luck at all becoming lucid. But, my dream recall is pretty good, so i've been scouring my dream journal for hints to dream signs. One thing I have noticed though is that my girlfriend has never made an appearance in any of the dreams I have recorded....or any that i can remember for that matter. Could the absence of someone so important to me be a dreamsign?
Any suggestions or tips are welcomed for becoming lucid for the first time lol.
P.S. I have a very hard time willing myself to sleep, as all of these methods seem to require, i end up burdening myself and staying up until i just give up on the technique i am experimenting with and going back to 'normal' sleep.

Well, are you around your girlfriend a lot? (...should I even need to ask that question?) :) At any rate, when you are awake, you can focus your waking RCs around times when you are not around your girlfriend. I found that I almost never had dreams with my boyfriend in them, which I found odd. But at any rate, if you're in a room and you see she's not around, ask yourself if you're dreaming.
That's a good one, actually. Let us know if it works out.

I never thought the absence of something could be a dream sign. What a good Idea. Try it out :)

I think that it could work, but i'm going to wait to experiment with unknowns until i have my first real lucid dream  . Another thought occured to me though, as a reality check it probably isn't good enough to ask: "is my gf here? it must then be a dream" because there is an indefatigable amount of reasons she would not be even in reality. A better idea might be to ask something along the lines of: "If she's not here, could this be a dream?" as a reality check, though it still seems unreliable
Maybe if someone always wore, say, a watch, could that be used instead? my watch isnt' here, could i be dreaming? I ask that someone more experienced than I please try this out and tell me how it goes. I'll try the idea myself, but my results can't be taken as fact...yet  . Thanks for the feedback guys.[/i]

As for the GF RC, that's what I mean :P
As for the watch, you could train yourself to do an RC whenever you look at your watch, but that would also depend on how often you look at your watch in a dream. I think that if you focused more on looking at your watch during the day, it's possible that it'd occur more often when you dream, but I've been meaning to do an experiment on "creating dream signs." Now that I have time I should look into that.
