I read some where that your sub-concious takes everything you think and say literaly. It says you should always "speak" to your sub-concious in the present tense. So instead of saying "I will remember my dreams"( or something along those lines) shouldn't saying "I always remember my dreams" work better?
I'm planning to try it tonight, has anyone else already tried it? And if so, did it make a difference?
That makes some sense, it's like you're telling your subconscious to remember your dreams. I tried saying it in the past-tense while meditating last night and I had absolutely no luck with that. I didn't remember 1 dream. I'm pretty much up for anything.
The site where I found it said if you say "I want to lucid dream " or something like that it'l make you want it more but not get it. The sub-concious is a wierd thing, it can be your worst enemy and then your best friend. If only it could follow direct orders.

I wonder if being angry or having another strong emotion will effect your chances of having LD's. Some people become more focused with anger, I wonder if this can be used to your advantage?
I'm not sure, but I think so. The first night I found out about LDing I felt a seriously strong positive emotion. I think it carried over to the dream because I became Lucid for basically no reason. I just all of a sudden said "Hey I'm in a dream." Out of nowhere.Quote:

The same night I found this site I felt the same, and yes I had my first lucid. It didn't work out too well though, read my journal for details.
I've noticed that the more gothic the music I listen too before sleep, the more gothic my dreams are. I'm usually still thinking about the music before sleep. I think this is the same effect as emotion on dreams.
Music does instill emotion so sure. I'll try listening to classical since it's my favorite anyway.Quote:

Hmmm, I think I'l try different music to see what happens, I'l stick to classic metal (Iron Maiden) today and avoid the goth and death metal. I wonder what will happen. I've noticed that alot of my dreams have my favourite music in the back ground, I'm starting to use it as a dream sign tonight.

This is the last dream I remember with music.The room I was in was silent when I went to sleep.
It was as if there was a CD player on in the corner of the room I was in(in the dream), I could hear the change in the sound as I moved around the room. Don't know why I didn't become lucid, the dream took place in a class room at my school and even the teacher seemed to like the music, this is strange since it was death-metal music. The class erupted into a fight near the end of the dream.
Even though I wasn't lucid it was still a good dream, what could be more fun than beating up a teacher? :lol:

For inducing lucid dreams by intent, you should focus more on actual intent rather than “the perfect phrase to repeat to myself.” There’s no magic phrase that’s going to trigger your subconscious to do a desired tasked. If I said to myself in the morning, “On my way home from school today I am going to buy some milk,” I wouldn't expect to actually remember to do that unless I really intended to and kept reminding myself to do it all day. Even then I would probably forget to do it.
This is why it's important to find cues in your dreams to remind you of your intent (such as dream signs), just like you'd need cues in waking life to remind you to do something–writing notes on my hand is quite effective, but this probably won’t work so well in the dream world.

I know what you mean. But I do focus my intent on it, and by using this my recall went from 1 per night to 3. And because I believe it does work better, it does.
Well, as you were saying, waking habits drastically affect our dreams. In regards to writing notes to help you remember something, it wouldn't be a stretch to say that carrying around a note in your pocket or wallet might help trigger LDs. You could write down your intentions and every time you felt that piece of paper or whatnot, it would be prudent to remember what was written on there, such as, "Check to see if I am dreaming." The big thing would be to not ignore it as another piece of paper, but taking seriously what is written on it.Quote:

Worked for me last night. I tried VILD which involves convincing yourself LDing is easy. Sure enough I became Lucid on the first dream, my first Lucid dream :mrgreen: . I'd recommend it for everyone, it really was easy.

My dream recall is kinda dead at the moment, but that will change tonight as long as I believe it will. I will convince myself that LD's are easy to have aswell :D
