Help, i can't dream!
In the last 5 years or so i just don't dream. Well i know i do, but it seems as if i dont. Once i wake up i can sometimes remember what i was dreaming though, but it seems as if i never really dreamed. Maybe its because i just cant realize I am dreaming. I also only get about 7 hours of sleep a night. Any ideas how to help me or what I can do?

I understand the feeling, I mostly get 5 hours of sleep thanks to school and work and whatnot. Rarely do I actually "feel" as if I dreamed. the only times I feel as if I had a dreamsin the times I get like 11 hours of sleep. Maybe it just depends on circumstances. Health, relaxation, stress, all that jazz.

Ya man
during my holidays i got like 10 hours of sleep and i always remembered like 4 dreams a night. now im back to school getting like 7 hours of sleep, and i can't remember a thing. wats up with that. i guess we need to bring up our dream recall or whatever it's called. when you are falling asleep tell yourself that you are going to remember your dream. then when you wake up just lie there and try to remember it. then make sure you have a notepad near by to write it down. this will make it easier for you to remember your dreams.

after 6 hours of sleep the dreaming periods get longer, and closer together. most of my vivid dreams are after 6 or 7 hours of sleep.
if you haven't already, keep a dream journal by your bed, and record anything, even a vague feeling. also, don't move when you wake up. stay still for a minute or two and concentrate on what you might have just been dreaming. these two things should help you remember . and getting 7 hours or more of sleep will definitely help (although i understand if you're too busy)
i used to rarely remember dreams. after starting a DJ and getting 7+ hours of sleep a night its increased to about 3 nightly. good luck :)

Yeah, unfortunately, lots of people rarely get to get more then like 6 hours of sleep. As previously posted, 5 or 6 is the norm for me, though on the days where I'm able to sleep in, try about 11. Those are the days when I'm about to have at least 1 good solid dream that I actually feel like I had.
Come to think of it, it's hard to describe "having a dream." We all have dreams, but to say you actually had one is a little different. I dunno, kinda one of those weird little instances that make you think.

Asher gave some good advise. If you're starting from scratch, the biggest thing is just to recall something. It can be an emotion or color or person or a word. I've found that if I can at least recall one small detail, I can link it to other details and work my way (usually backwards) and recall a lot more than I thought I would.
At this point, just remember to write in your journal every morning or whenever you wake up.
