      Reality checks - Touch

I just recorded my first 2 dreams last night. They are so disjointed! I wasn't lucid and didn't do any reality checks but it was interesting to know what my mind was busy thinking about (food and driving two things I dealt with right before bed time).

I read through all of the reality checks and didn't see 'touch' or 'feeling' there. It seems to me that in my dreams, I never 'feel' my feet on the ground or hand on an object unless that is the 'issue' of concern at the time. I was driving in the car but had no recall of actually feeling the steering wheel, or even any awareness that is was there. The only thing I was aware of in the dream was the situation, cars blocking my path and the road starting to break up into asphalt and tar. I got out and walked and the road was all covered in tar, no odor and my feet didn't 'feel' it. I simply had the impression it was not a good place to be at the time!

Is touching your surroundings a good reality check?

First up, don't worry about your dreams being disjointed, as your recall improves they won't be.

Now using touch as a reality check... I've never thought about that, I guess that it could work really quite well, although your mind can recreate feelings incredibly well, so it would be worth suplimenting it with other checks such as counting your fingers and trying to read something.

I home I helped you here, feel free to PM me if youever have any more questions.

Thanks Alex, Touch is the one thing I find myself doing during my waking hours when I am checking to see if I'm not dreaming. Even that exercise, trying to do it 21 times a day, is mind expanding!
