collective unconscious weather report
Hi. I'm new to DV and I'm excited to have come across it. I'm a middle-aged male. I had an inkling that something like this might exist and now that I know for sure, I'm real glad. Approx. 25 years ago I was dabbling in meditation and Jungian psychology and thought that if the collective unconscious - as hypothesized by Carl Jung - is a reality, then a great way to research it would be to get people on-line ( 25 years ago very few people were on-line) and to tell what they'd dreamed of the past night. If the sample were large enough then a rough sense of a "weather report of the collective unconscious" could be estimated. It was just a thought that I had. Now that I have come across Dreamviews.com I'm real excited to learn about what varities of research have actually been done.

Interesting idea.
But I have a feeling that the Collective Unconscious a bit more like a glacier, that is, not as subject to variety and change as the daily weather report. it is more like surmising the present state of Humanity. Yes, Humanity does change, but not from day to day.
So I can tell you that we have many apocalyptic dreams, dreams of tides washing in, and a good many anxiety dreams. but there are more spiritual dreams then I would have guessed. I suppose if anything has changed over the last 30 years, it is that Spiritual Dreams have gone up by a percent or two.
But, yes, that was a very good idea. I've been trying to interest people around here regarding the Collective Consciousness (no, I did not want to have to explain how it could still be significant if it were unconscious instead of conscious and so I took the liberty of saying Collective 'consciousness' and only hoped somebody would be well read and informed enough to correct me).
