new member,introducing myself

hey all,i am 39 yo and have recently quit smoking pot ,i was a daily user and finally decided to take some control back .

I can say that before quitting i never recalled any of my dreams, i would say i didnt even dream but know this to be false from reading on here.

But now,holy man every night is a 4-5 dream night so vivid i was remembering them all the next day and entertaining my co-workers,maybe even annoying a few of the narrow minded ones.

So here i am, last night i spent the whole night on one dream,i am pretty sure i woke up a few times, at least to flip over like i do 10 times a night at least.

i started a journal ,i get up at night to write down what i remember ,i usually recall 2-3 a night. some work related with lots of visits from old pals from home and a lot of weird stuff too. Always an adventure

im getting a watch that chimes every hour so i can practice reality checks.

everyone thinks im nuts except for a few college boys that know about lucid dreaming (i didn't until coming here).

looking forward to develloping this new skill to its fullest....Any reply appreciated

Excellent! You sound like you really know what you're doing and are serious about doing it. You're right about smoking pot decreasing your dream recall. There have been so many posted topics about people smoking vs. not smoking and how it effects dream recall. I'm glad you're remembering so many dreams - it certainly makes life more interesting.

Starting a dream journal is an excellent start. I found that just by starting a DJ, my mind starting becoming more conditioned to recalling more dreams. I'm still pretty bad about writing them down in the middle of the night, though (I'm always so comfortably sleepy that I don't want to move - but I pay for it in the morning when I know I had a cool dream but can't remember it anymore).

Don't worry about the people at work. It's nice to be able to talk to friends about this stuff, but I wouldn't even bother with the skeptics. If you keep the negative people around you at a distance, your mind won't seem so inhibited on a subconscious level.

Anyway, sorry for the long reply - I usually stick with a sentence or two because I hate reading long-winded posts! :wink:

Welcome. I wonder if your dreams are more vivid because of the Detox effect of quitting pot? REM rebound, I think it is reffered to as sometimes. In college I would go on a "bender" once in a while, rarely having a sober night. Everytime it ended I would have very vivid wild dreams.

Anyway, I know the feeling of not really being able to talk about it at work or with your friends. LOL, I think most people think I am some sort of a nut job. Bah, oh well. My wife still supports me so that is all that really matters.

I have always been pretty good at dream recall, but I haven't had a lucid dream yet. This is of course my short term goal. Maybe OBE's or AP's after that... who knows. But because of my aptitude for dreaming, and willingness to work towards LD'ing, I feel confident that I will have a lucid dream eventually.

yeah, i've found mary jane inhibits my dreamwork almost completely. for awhile i was only smoking on friday and saturday, but i'm stopping completely now. by thursday i'd be having 5-6 dreams a night, and verging on lucidity. but then i'd smoke up all weekend, and it'd be monday before i'd remember a dream again.

so, i'm giving it at least a couple months, and will see how the continual progression of mental clarity affects my LDing attempts.

good luck bro :wink: it sounds like you are well on your way.... lucid dreams are in many ways even better than getting lifted. you don't just float, you fly!

I am really concentrating before i go to bed and also come here and read about LD's for a little while to get it fresh in my mind .

I noticed as well that what mood i am in greatly affects my dreams,the other night i went to bed angry because my bro in law was pissing off my wife.

While i try and stay out of there business ,id like to strangle him a bit sometimes :mrgreen: that night i dreamt i was beating a coworker for what seemed like hours .It felt pretty good and no harm was done to no one.

Question. If i wake up flip over and go back to the same dream (i checked my clock every time and am pretty certain im fully awake) would this be cosidered light lucidity or just conscious enough to go back to the same dream ?
