What is the best way to fall asleep?

i usually stretch real good before laying down, and then consciously relax every singly part of my body one by one, and afterwards let my mind wander.
First off, welcome to Dream Views. I've also had trouble falling asleep off and on, mainly because I'm a very light sleeper and anything with a beat or words will keep me awake.
I've tried using visualization or even just lying still, but I can lay in one position for hours and not get anywhere unless I decide that I'm just going to sleep and not worry about anything else. How long has this been a problem for you? I go in spurts sometimes where it just seems harder, but it usually goes back to normall after a short time. Has there been any changes in your diet? Do you wake up frequently during the night?
As mongrel was saying, people will often use stretching or yoga or meditation before bed to help them sleep. Also, exercising during the day helps quite a bit, I've also found. I'd be careful with any sleep-aids, though, as sometimes they don't always work well or one can become dependent on them. Just give it some time and try to relax before you go to bed. Just clearing your mind of the events of the day can help a lot.
