I have yet to have a lucid dream...i want one sooo bad but when i have a dream i can only recall like a few seconds of it every night....why is this?
This hapens because you mostg likley just started. Keep a dream jouranl o wirte down all your dreams in, and you will soon find that you will remember more and more of your dreams. Once your dreams are longer and more vivd, you can find dream signs and do realtiy checks.
Well i remember some really old dreams like when i was a child , should i be writing those down also?
You could try writing those down. However, if you're trying to find some dreamsigns (similarities found in most of your dreams), then it's important to write down your recent ones. Even though your recall may not be very good right now, keeping a dream journal will help you better than anything else. Just be consistent and you'll be able to remember more in no time.
Also, it's very important not to get stressed out about it. Stress, I've found, is a sure way to keep you from sleeping and keep you from remembering your dreams. Just tell yourself before you go to bed that you will recall your dreams when you wake up and write them down when you do. Then just go to sleep. When you wake up, though, it helps a lot if you don't move any more than you have to. Just lie in bed and try to think of the last thing that happened and work backwards from there. If you're only able to write down a little bit, then write it down. Tomorrow you'll have more.
Anyway, this was rather long-winded but I hope it helped.

Thanx! I'll keep a notebook and I'm pretty sure its because I'm stressed for a upcoming test. Would being stressed while sleeping change a dream? Like change dream signs?
Dreams signs generally happen on their own, so stress can potentially cause them to change, depending on what's going on in the real world. I've actually found that when I'm really stressed out, my dreams mirror reality more closely than usual. For example, when I'm worrying about a test I'll sometimes dream that I'm late or I've forgotten everything or I'm in the wrong class. That's entirely possible (though not very likely), so it'd be easy to see how you could miss it.
Practicing reality checks will help a lot with this. Always be asking youself whether or not what's currently going on makes sense and if it doesn't, well, you're probably dreaming.
