Brand new to LD
I have recently discovered Lucid Dreaming and I have become facinated in it within 3 days of reading about it. I just wanted advice on how to start. I have read some tutorials and have found that there are techniques for people who are much more experianced than me. I just wanted advice for someone who is JUST starting. My dream recall is probably the worst ever. The last time I remembered a dream, I don't even know.
To be honest, It wouldn't matter to me if I had a Lucid Dream. I would be very happy to just improve my dream recall and have fun with a dream journal. :)
Thanks :)

Hello :D Welcome to DreamViews. I just want to let you know that i moved your thread to the newbie forum. I advise that you start to keep a dream journal. Every time you wake up, write down anything you remember about your dream. No matter how small it may seem, or even if you remember nothing at all, write that down. The reason this works is because your mind will start to understand that remembering your dreams is important. In addition, get 8 hours of sleep each night, and keep a regular sleeping schedule. Oh, one more thing... When you are going to sleep, tell yourself that you will clearly remember your dreams when you wake up. Do not think about what you have to do tomorrow as you fall asleep. It will kill your recall. I hope this will help you, I'm sure it will. If you ever need anymore help, or have any questions, ill be more then happy to answer them. Just PM em or any of our other dream-guides ( the people in the green) ;)

Try setting an alarm like 5-7 hours after sleep. As you can probably read from my signature, the best REM's (Stage of sleep where you dream) start to occur at that time. You can even set multiple alarms for one night, an alarm will very likely wake you up in the middle of a dream, resulting in you remembering it. Do this until your recall gets better.
Oh, and when you wake up in the middle of the night you might be too tired to write anything, so my advice is writing some keywords (Think of this as a subject for the dream) down on your cell phone (keep it near your bed). This way you'll still remember the dream in the morning/afternoon/evening and you can write it down completely.
Just remember to take this slow. In due time you will also have a lucid dream, you'll learn this and you'll be glad you did. Be confident.

I have a terrible dream recall as well, in fact I remember about one dream per month. Surprisingly, when I told myself "I will remember my dreams when I wake up" and concentrated on keeping that thought until I feel asleep, I managed to remember two dreams exceptionally clear.

Well there you have it :)

Thank you very much. What I meant before about the techniques being too advanced for me, is that keeping a dream journal and writing down your dreams is pretty hard to do when you cannot remember any dreams at all. Just clarifying.
