Had an inspiring LD experience that led me here...
Hello all, I'm new here but not so new to lucid dreaming. I've had a handful of LD experiences since I was a child, but never had any kind of control. I first learned of the concept of lucid dreaming about 4 years ago, and was intrigued by the concept but never did any research on it. In my late teens (I'm 23 now) I started going through phases, sometimes weeks at a time, that I would recall between 2 and 6 dreams a night. After a few nights this would become emotionally exhausting and I would feel fatigued when waking.
For the past couple of years I've been a heavy marijuana user, and during that time most if not all of my dreams have been surpressed. Any time that I've stopped smoking for more than a couple of days, my dreams come back strong and vivid, with multiple recalls like before.
In the past few weeks I've dramatically reduced my pot usage, and my dreams have been getting more and more vivid. Last night I had a very amazing dream. It was a dream within a dream, where my second dream was a lucid dream. As I realized I was dreaming, my surroundings changed to some sort of high school event (flashback). As I was still aware that I was dreaming, I started asking people around me what year it was, and nobody knew! This was the point that I realized I had control over myself within my dream...and quickly after that I realized I had control over some other aspects of my dream. I walked outside and I tried to fly. Instead I floated around at a low speed--it felt like I was being restricted or held back somehow... So I really concentrated on what it would look and feel like to go 200 mph, and soon I found myself flying down streets at mind-blowing speeds, soaring hundreds of feet into the air, diving back down again, etc. I became grounded when I got distracted and forgot I was in a dream.
But it was such an AMAZING feeling! So real! It really inspired me to start researching lucid dreaming and it landed me here at this site. I'm looking forward to learning more about LD and other's experiences.
Anyway, that's my intro :) Thanks for taking the time to read this.

PS- Let me know if any of this was unclear... It's late.
