      Life-long LD'er that's new to the site

      Hey Guys and Gals,

I just stumbled onto this site...literally (I have a firefox add-on called stumbleupon that brought me here). I've had LDs every night of my life, gaining seeming mastery of them by my early teenage years. I've always kind of thought I was alone in this. I have a degree in psychology, and none of my professors (who happened to be psychologists/etc.) could ever tell me anything about them, and, inasmuch, I haven't given them a great deal of thought in recent years. I've simply settled for having a blast every night.

I've lived out some of my wildest fantasies in my dreams and learned a great deal about myself in the process. I have exhausted my curiosities for my basest primal yearnings, traveled through the universe and seen far away paradises in my dreams. My LDs allow me to have ABSOLUTE control of my universe in the dream state. In a way, I feel like God when I dream. I can be anywhere and do anything with anyone I choose. You truly learn who you are when you are granted such seeming power. I believe that this feeling of power is exponentially increased by the knowledge that the dreamer's actions in the dream world have no effect on reality other than how the dream changes one’s view of oneself and how one being can fill their role in the real world once he/she is back in it the next morning.

Though, I have often wondered how far a person can immerse themselves in the fantasy that can be brought about in a LD. I live a happy, balanced life. I’m recently engaged and working in a job that I truly enjoy. I initially saw my LDs as mere entertainment. And while I do feel an extreme sense of power and the joy that accompanies it in my dream state, I don’t miss it when I’m awake because, over the past several years, I’ve begun using them to better myself in the real world. Honestly, I have reached the point to which that, from time to time, I will go along with my dreams and let them play out without my interference (even though I still retain full control to do so) just to see what is going through my head so that I can work out my day to day tribulations at night. It is therapeutic and somewhat meditative. As I’ve stated earlier, the dream has no effect on reality other than how it changes the dreamer once they wake up, and I, personally, want to change myself for the better. Though, I wonder if there have ever been cases where individuals with this remarkable ability have sought total escape into their dream universe, in the same way a video gamer might play a game to control their own little world and escape reality for a while. Are their LD addicts?

I am overjoyed to have found this site. I have many other questions, and I truly look forward to learning more answers about this phenomenon while meeting you all and hopefully contributing some of my personal knowledge on the subject as well. Take care and sweet dreams!

      Cool

Cool it seems like your a man of wisdom and thought. I think you will be great on this site and will be able to give a lot of information to people who need to sort them selfs out in there LDs.
Also i don't think there is such thing as a LD addicite because we all try to have a LD every night to improve our skills.
I'm not suprised that your psycology Professers didn't know what lucid dreaming is because lucid dreaming is still pretty new(i mean the discovery and use of it) and it still needs a lot of time into the morden world. I'm not sure but i think Dreams are one of those topics that a lot of people think you can't do anything about it and that might be the reason why people ignore the fact of dreams.
You have a natural(I still think uncany is a better word i don't know why but i like being random) ability and to let Dreams sort out your life which you have said to have done. This is more then anyone can hope for because this is the best way to your life. To see into the reality of your life you must first dig deep into your mind and find the key and answear(that was by me), and what better way then to dream.
You have achived more then any of the powerfull lucid dreamers have in your life by your own and without help.
You might still have a lot of learning to do to increase your abilites above the unlimited(I know its an oxymoron) but at least you have that promise to get there. I wonder if you will be any good at OBEs(out of body exprience).
Im not afraid of the dark, its whats in it.
*the lights turn off and the whole room goes dark*
Oh im fin- Ahhhhhhhh its a scary figment of my imagination.

Your dreams are powerfu. Since you have long sinced mastered the art o lucidity I suggest you look into techniques that govern dream learning and photoreading activation threw dreaming.

Furthermore using lucid dreams to actual train and practice in physical tasks can bring about excellent technique. For your brian does not know the differnece between fantasy and reality. Because of thta you could progrma your muscles to perform this physicla act with ease and simply do physical training outsid.e

Also I invite you to learn techniques that govern prolonged lucid dream. Since time is subjective in your own heady ou'll find it quit easy.

I'd like to introduce an idea to you. The erason you sleep is not only for your brain gain rest and all tha jazz, but to give you an opportunity to program your brain and give you access to the tools that will bring about success in your life. See going to sleep as an opportunity to help forfill your goals in the waking life and feel the l33tn3ss of 24/7 awareness.

Hey, welcome to the forum! You'll like it alot here, as I have. If I could suggest something it would be to Adopt someone. Check out the Adoption Forum for more info, it's basically where you "adopt" a person and you can share experiences and teach each other new things. Happy dreaming!

I can see somebody getting lost in their dream world, however, your highly concious of your thoughts and learn about yourself during dreams, something not typical of an escapist activity. You see the problems as well as the fantastic stuff.
