3rd LD! - a couple of questions

After a week with no LDs. I had my third last night! I had a few questions and was hoping someone more experienced than myself might be able to answer them.

First, in my dream, I got out of bed and was shocked to see myself lying in bed! Is this the same as an out of body experience? I really didn’t think much of it since I knew I was dreaming and just went about exploring the house I was in.

Secondly, I remembered that to wake up from an LD you could go to sleep in the dream. I tried this but then had a FA, which sucked because it made me forget some of my LD. Is there a better way to leave the dream?

As far as seeing yourself lying in bed is concerned. That is what you might call an out of body experience. There's really nothing special about it though. Anything is possible in dreams, including seeing yourself in bed. This, of course, wasn't your real body you were looking at. It was merely a part of the dream. A figment of your imagination like all things in your dreams. One way to look at it is like memories. When you remember yourself, you don't see your actual self, just your memory. Dreams are the same, except you see everything clearly so it can look exactly like real life.

There are a lot of ways to make yourself wake up from a lucid dream. One way that works well is staring at a fixed point until your surroundings start to blur. This can make the dream fade away quickly. However, neither this, nor any other way of waking up guarantees an actual wake up (as opposed to a false awakening).
I do wonder why you would want to wake up from a lucid dream. I, personally would be more interested in staying asleep. ;)

Hey Umbrella, thanks for replying. I'm not totally sure why I wanted to end it. I do remember it was very dark inside this house I was in and it was a bit spooky. But, also I had been reading a book on LDing and just read the part about waking up and I think I just wanted to see if it worked. It's still a bit fuzzy because of the stupid FA which almost made me forget the whole thing.

Good point about the OBE. It couldn't have really been me since the room I was in was not my real room.

I must admit, I too tried to wake myself up from a lucid dream once. I did it because I wasn't thinking clearly anymore (it had been going on for a while and I started to lose lucidity). So I guess that can be a reason. ^.^

A dreamguide, is a specific dream character who guides you in your dreams. Some people meet them in their dreams (lucid or not) without any intention. Others, like me, call them because they want to meet them. In my first really good LD I started yelling "Dreamguide!". A bird then flew towards me and started talking to me. He said he was my dreamguide named Chris.
I see him roughly as the dream-equivalent of my subconcious. He has taught me was to increase my dream control and comes to me when I call him.
