Has any body had the feeling that your hands are upside down while your trying to WILD. It's one of the things I notice when I try. It's when I'm on my back and have my hands beside me with my palms up. They eventually feel like they're twisted or facing down.

      Hey Diablo,

That's pretty freaky, I haven't felt that. I bet it has something to do with the onset of SP, maybe losing sensitivity of your hands so your mind tries to "fill in the gap". Kind of like if you ever had your hands under the water faucet and the water is at that temperature that's neither warm nor cool - you'll get brief sensations of hot, then cold.... then hot again... then cold. I don't think it's the water changing temperature, it's just your mind trying to interpret the sensation. Like it must register one or the other, there's no in-between. So if you think "cold", the water feels "hot". Kinda weird sensation.

Hmm well I haven't experienced THAT particulair weird physical sensation while falling asleep, but I DO experience alot of physical sensations that are of the same Nature as yours.

Perhaps they are Hypnagogic Hallucinations. These pre-sleep Hallucinations can manifest themselves to all senses. Most notable are Seeing hypnotic patterns and brief scenes and faces(Visually:Eyes) and Hearing Voices and ambient sounds (Auditory:Ears).
But, later in the Hipnagogic state, also Smelling smells that aren't really present (Olfactory:Smell) and Tactile hallucinations (Sense of touch) may occur.

Maybe the last type of hallucination, a tactile hallucination, is what you experienced. Since feeling that your hands are lying palm downwards is a sense of touch. A false sense then.. a hypnagogic hallucination perhaps?

Yah, it's probably my hands falling asleep and my arms still partially awake, leaving my brain to guess where my hand is. This and having hypnagogic imagery is as close as I've gotten so far. Can't wait to have a LD.

Yeah Ive had that feeling.. i often experience the feeling of distortions in my arms while attempting WILD/deeply relaxed. I often feel like my arms are bent/bending halfway between my elbow and my wrist which feels really weird. I have no idea about the science behind it but id like to hear from accomplished WILD'ers as to whether its common and how far through the WILD process it normally occurs.

Good luck in your LD quest Diablo.

I've had similar sensations in my hands...
When I attempted to WILD one time, it felt as thought there were many OTHER fingers feeling my hands... not my own, other peoples or somthing. Kind of a strange creepy crawly feeling... I also got a strange buzzing sensation in my chest that spread out. Onset of SP I reckon, but I've never been in SP or had a WILD yet

Yes! I get the exact same sensation. I also find sometimes that I seem to develop an extra pair of arms. My actual arms are in parallel with my body, but it also feels like they're pointing out to the sides aswell. I was once told they were my 'astral arms' on another message board, but I guess that is more to do with out of body experiences.
I figure I can describe it since I have a choice in the matter

When I go into SP, I get really wierd sensory hallucinations, and I can control them. A few times, I brought what felt like my arm up to my chin, and rested it there. Another time it felt like I moved my arm over to my side to block what felt like something was jabbing me (made it worse). I've also felt like I've had my arms twisted in wierd positions. The only time I've felt something with legs is when it felt like my legs floated upward, pulling me up and hanging me upside down
