I'm new here and I'm 24 yrs old guy from Turkey.
I used to have ability to have lucid dreams and recall most of my dreams - both naturally- in my school years. But i lost these things nearly 5 years before. In last 15 days, i started to have them again without stability. When i realize that it's a dream, i wake up. Then i decided to search about LDs again and found myself here.
I read tutiorals section and decided to try WILD on last Friday. I tried for 3 times in 3 days. In first 2, nothing happened but in my last try, last night -i think- something has happened. I went bed around 23:00 and set the alarm for 4:00. I daydreamed about 30 minutes before i sleep. When i wake up at 4:00, i stayed in bed awake for a while, around 15 minutes, then i got up and had some water and walked in the room for another 15 minutes. When i got back to my bed, i relaxed and made a scenario for my dream. After a while, i started to see moving lights behind my eyelids. Then became moving faster and there was a very loud hum in my ears and it became louder and louder - i thought my ears gonna blow away :? -. At this moment i started to count "I'm dreaming" and a few minutes later i felt like I'm in a whirlpool. Then suddenly i opened my eyes and did some RCs, i was awake :( I got back to bed again and then colors and hum in my ears came back. I started to count again, but the same happened. Then i decided to sleep. But in the morning i was remembering 1 dream :)
So im curious; is something wrong with what I did in WILD? Did i start to count too early or too late? Meanwhile, i got excited for a few seconds because of that extremely loud hum and whirlpool feeling.

First of all, welcome to the forum. We are so glad to have you with us. If you need any help or anything, you are welcome to ask.
In regards to your problem, I wouldn't worry too much about faliure early on. Using techniques requires a bit of experimentation, so experiment. Not all people's minds respond to the same things. You just need to keep trying, and have confidence. You can't expect to have everything to work out exactly right the first time. Each time should be a learning experience. You just need to find the ways you need to customize the technique to you, so that it is more effective. Also, after a substantial period of time, if you have no success, you might consider trying another technique. Not all techniques will work for you...You might have to shop around to find the right one for you!

Of course i don't expect a quick success on that. But the hum was really very disturbing, i still can't forget. Anyway, i'll try again and again so we'll se ;)

Hmm... I had an experience very similar to yours actually. I'm also starting out, but unlike you I actually have no natural talent for lucid whatsoever. In any case, I did manage to get pretty far in a WILD recently.
After relaxing, losing concious thought of my body, my mind was becoming fuzzy. I started to concentrate on '1, I am dreaming' etc, when I noticed the only thing in my head was a hum of some sort. I decided to start concentrating on that, and immediately it started to become louder. And louder, and louder until is was ringing violently inside my head. I'm not so sure how this relates to hypnogogic sounds, but I know that this only happens during my WILDs. At the same time, I began to feel some strong sosematic sensations, I felt as though the rooms was spinning and I wasn't in my body. I then realised I was beginning a WILD and got excited, which returned me to consciousness.
Finally, welcome, good to see someone from a place outside of Europe or North America! We do have quite a diverse bunch here... and I like you sig, by the way.

The humming noise is a classic part of WILD, although not everyone gets it. If i'm really serious about it, i tend to go from waking straight into a dream, usually if i've had a few hours sleep to begin with!
Getting up in the middle of the night usually helps too, especialy if you were just having a dream. Then wild is a great way of getting back into that dream if you can pull it off.
When you create a dream scenario, try to include something that you know shouldnt' be there, so you'll know you are dreaming.
Good luck and keep trying. Even if you don't have a WILD and don't go lucid, at least you'll have a dream to write down!
