New lucid dreamer, wondering about LD
I have just recently begun to explore lucid dreaming, and i have a few questions for any who has some experience in the area. First of all, what is the degree of lucidity you usually experience in the dreams? and does this increase with experience? The first "lucid" dream I had, after having read a fairly good deal about the topic, involved something which made little sense to me, a random person on the street in some random city was holding up a picture, and I recognized it as "the wrong picture", and this made me realize that I was dreaming. I have no idea what the right picture was (it was probably related to something earlier in the dream?), but this is how it started. Then, I never truly felt an amazing sense of lucidity, but it was more like i was being swept along by the dream, as happens in a NLD, but with moments and flashes of lucidity present. Like, i found myself in a bookstore, and i was going to buy something, but then realized that it would be pointless b/c when i woke up it i knew it would just be gone (and that since I had never seen the magazine in real life, the images i would see inside it would be made up by my mind, a thought i felt was particularly lucid as i had it). The initial focus of the dream was to go find this one girl i know in real life, and i never recognized the possibility of doing anything else, i had a one track mind, with very little control, but i still felt as if i knew what was going on. I ended up finding a different girl, and kissed her, made out w/her really, and she responded favorably at first, but after we finished, it was a completely different girl, and the lucidity ran out quickly thereafter. The "lucid" dream i had more recently was similar, though in this one, i at one point told myself that i was in a lucid dream, and thus could do anything, and then tried to fly, but fell on my face. So i guess the question is, is this just me dreaming about having a lucid dream? or is it just a lucid dream with a low degree of lucidity? I sleep very deeply, and have trouble remembering many aspects of my dreams once my incredibly annoying alarm goes off, so pehaps this is a factor as well. Like, I know some people have said that they can have real difficulty distinguishing between dreams and reality, but i am always 100% sure when i am dreaming, at least right now with my limited experience, because it feels like such a different mental state, almost like its cloudy sort of, its difficult to explain...any help or advice that any of you could give would be greatly appreciated. thanks ;-)
