      Unhappy

I haven't practiced any RC technqiues, I have thought about wearing a watch more frequently though.
So for those of you whom haven't heard this technique, simply wear a watch during most of your waking hours
try to look at the time frequently, and when you do look at it, look away, and look at it again. Taking your time
to view the numbers. The more frequent you do this, the more likely you would in a dream. The key is, that when you view the watch in your dream for the first time, the numbers might be awkward, but when you look at the second time they'll be completely changed. I thought I'd share this, because theirs several people out there that always wear watches, I use to every day when I was younger, wish I hadn't stopped now. Another technique which I really don't recommend but read about, (Can't remember the homepage) But it's to make yourself very thirsty prior to going into bed. Fill your mouth with salt, or anything to get thirsty.. Then fall asleep with a glass of water next to your bed, if you drink the water, you know your sleeping.

I want to try the watch one… or some kind of realty check thing but I can’t remember to during the day… I usually go on with my day forgetting to do them and at night I’m like ahh crap lol… any ideas on how 2 remember 2 do them and dose it HAVE to be like once an hour?

um, i usually find the best thing to do is to ask my self at various points in the day if i could be in a dream.
I often forget to do them, but i still have some really vivid dreams. Usually reality checking is spontaneous for me.
as to remembering how to do them, i don't have a set method, just do them when you remember.
and no, it doesn't have to be once every hour , on the hour.
most people are too busy for that.

Eh, i perfer the nose-pinching one and the finger-through-hand one. They are easy to do in wake life as well as in a dream, because in a dream, you might not have a watch!

I look at my hands, then look for something to read - watch/writing. Both reality checks have worked for me and I don't look strange in waking life!

The digital clock test works for me, without fail. Also, I've often becaome lucid by looking in a mirror.

I RC four of five times a day.

Anyone ever perform any reality checks while they're dreaming that make no sense when you think about them after you wake up? Last night, I had a brief dream where I was only vaugely aware of being lucid, and I was doing something with a Swiss army knife as a reality check. I'm not sure what that was. This probably doesn't make any sense, but I don't know how else to describe it.

The most common reality check I do when I'm awake is to look at a clock two or three times and see if the time changes or if it goes backwards or does anything else weird.

Usually, the finger through the hand tech doesnt work, because in many people's dreams, their finger won't go through. It's typically not a very good technique.

You should try to do RC's whenever you even think about it. Try associating the phrase 'reality check' with a certain item or items you see alot.

Every LD i've had (3 this month so far) have all been with the nose pinch reality check. In fact, I think EVERY LD i've had was because of it. So my opinion, go with that one.

i write words on my hand with a pen, last year it worked really well, i'v been trying it out again after a long break from dreaming and have yet to have success. However in the past it worked well. Right now i have 'A Pen' writen on my left hand, i try to look at it a few times a day, maybe increased frequency would help...

Hey all...first poster here. Very new to this all but it seems so damn cool that im going to dive right in. Ive been practicing reality checks for the last few days and last night a actually think i came really close to LDing but i cant be too sure. It seems as soon as i RC'd in my dream something went all whacky and i either woke up or got too excited or something.

Anyways i was wondering if you guys think that simply looking at an object, looking away, then looking back to see if its still there is a good RC technique.

      Cheers

Yeah it does help as a reality check, it also helps detail the dream. But another reality check similar to that is to try to read, whether it be a book/page or a clock. If something's not right, you're in a dream. Same deal with looking at your hands-I guess all of these techniques are related somehow.

Actually, Shabbincubus, you could take that tequniche even farther. Turn around, and 'will' it to be gone, and when you turn around if its gone, youre dreaming! Or, say, "If I'm dreaming, when I turn around the object will be gone.
