My name is Adam and I'm pretty new to lucid dreaming (I found out about it a little more than a week ago). I found out about it while surfing on wikipedia about sleep (wasn't sure if I was getting enough), I saw the link to dreaming, and couldn't resist clicking on it. Then I saw another link to 'lucid dreaming'. I clicked on it, and read over the subject. I realized that I had actually had one when I was about 9 (the whole experience was quite vivid. I remember thinking it was really strange, but it only lasted like 15 seconds). I didn't think too much more about it, because I didn't read that you could train yourself to do it and so forth. Anyway, I went to sleep that night and sure enough, I had a LD. I remember dreaming regularly, and then I remembered about the article on wikipedia and I realized I was LDing (I was in quite an unreal situation), and then everything seemed real as day. It was just so weird. And then I started drifting out of it. I literally watched it fuzz away. Then I had a false awakening and just thought that I had woke up. Then when I woke up for real the next day, it was straight off to wikipedia again and straight onto their wikibook on how to train yourself to lucid dream. That whole day I was just extremely happy and overjoyed. It was like I had found the cheat code to life. The whole day was just awesome. Did any of you feel like that? Unfortunately, I didn't quite being excited and stayed up the whole night, because I just knew I was going to LD. I must have done a reality check every twenty seconds that day. I'm not kidding. I've calmed down about LDing since then, and I've still been doing reality checks and I started a dream journal, even though I naturally have a very good dream recall. (I remember my dreams almost every night. If I don't remember it, it just seems weird.) So about six days ago, I went on a camping trip, and I did a reality check in a dream. I looked at my hands. Perfectly normal. Tried to poke my finger through my other hand, didn't work. So I proceeded to plug my nose. I could breathe through it. I instantly knew I was LDing, although the whole dream was not as clear as my previous 8-second LD, and my memory of it is somewhat fuzzy. I kept myself calm somehow, and my thought went instantly to spinning. I just starting spinning like crazy, even though my dream wasn't fading at all. I imagine a green field, but I end up being surrounded by 'the void of blackness'. It was really weird because I could see my hand and I felt like a could almost touch it, although it was out of reach. After that, somehow, I'm outside of my house and I think of flying. I start jumping up and down. First couple times it doesn't work. Then I start hovering up and I float back down. Eventually, I start flying one time and I get up to the tops of these really high trees. Then I fall down and hit the pavement, and I don't feel pain, but this strange slightly uncomfortable rushing feeling that I would definitely put up with if I could fly again. It really wasn't that bad. So then, somehow I end up in my house and my parents are telling me to do the dishes. So I try to use my appearing/disappearing skills. I look away, think less dishes, and I look back. Slightly less dishes. I try several more times and either more or less dishes show up. But I stop when enough dishes are gone and it looks good enough. I don't know why I just told my parents that I didn't have to do dishes cause I was dreaming and go off and fly some more, but I didn't. But at least I got to practise my 'summoning' skills. The problem was I was saying it in my head, instead of knowing that it was that way. You know the whole Yoda thing. 'Don't try, do". Anyway, I feel like I'm rambling now . . . so anyway, that's my whole LD experience and I just think that LDing is so cool and I look forward to talking about LDing with all of you.

thats a pretty sweet ld. I never got the whole flying thing in my first couple lds either ( i didnt fall, i just floated up like a balloon lol) my finding of lucid dreaming is very similiar to yours. i looked up dreaming and found this site then a couple weeks later i had my first ld, everything just zoomed into reality it felt so real, i was changing the colors of things and trying to fly (like i said before i just floated away) so i signed in for the forum and here i am! :) welcome to the forum
