Two days ago, on Sunday 9/10/06, I registered here. I did so because I needed some help on dream journalkeeping practice: I fear waking up in the middle of the night to record in a dream journal because it takes me a long time to fall asleep. Once I am asleep, it's easy to stay asleep, but every night I take at least one hour to doze off.
So I came here with the intent of asking about techniques on how to go to sleep faster, but the forum rules stated that I had to wait before my account was approved by staff, so I turned off the PC and went to bed.
That very night, when I fell asleep, I had a lucid dream. Right there. That very night. The very night that I registered on this forum. Needless to say, I was amazed.
What more, it turned out that my sleeping difficulties were actually just a problem with my biological clock. Now that I have to wake up at 6 every morning, my clock has been fixed.
So, now, is this a good time to further develop my lucid dreaming skills? Or is it better to hold back still and enlarge my dream journal? (I had just recently discovered this site and only have two entries in the journal! One was an ordinary one and the other was my lucid dream.) This is also not the first time I've had a lucid dream: I've had two before in my life--once at about age 7 and another at about age 13. (Right now I'm 15.) I'm also pretty good at remembering dreams: I just have to have the will to and I seem to be able to automatically remember one about every other night.

Welcome to the forums LX. And as for the fact that you remembered that you had a lucid dream at age 7, that's pretty astounding.

I'd say that you should get to two dreams a night as far as recall before you try inducing lucid dreams. If they come by chance just enjoy them (that's the way it is with me), but just try to get to that two dream mark. You don't really need to have that many entries before LDing, becuase DJs are just to remind you of your dreams when you read it over (I remember dreams from months ago as well as if they were yesterday because of my DJ). DJs are also to find your dream sign, which helps A LOT when trying to induce your LDs.
Besides that, congradulations on your LD, and I hope you have fun LDing!! :goodjob2:

Welcome to the forum, LXPeng :)
Congrats on your LD - that's pretty amazing! I'll go out on a limb from what the others said and say, if you're on a roll, just go with it. Maybe not necessarily try to induce LDs every single day but really concentrate on your recall and journaling. I'm sure you've probably had many other lucid dreams but just didn't remember them.
Keeping a dream journal is very important as it will help you recognize patterns and dreamsigns - which will help you to become lucid.
Another helpful hint, utilize the Search Function to search the forum for related topics which may answer common questions. But if you can't find what you need, plese feel free to ask!
Good luck and have fun :)

I say keep journalling. After a while, look at your journal. How is the vividness? Do you remember a lot or a little? How many dreams do you remember? Let that determine when you think you should take the next step.

I think it's perfectly fine to develop both recall and lucid skills at the same time. That's what I did and it worked fine for me. You might be taking a risk in that you might forget a lucid dream though.
