Welcome to Dreamviews!
You don't actually have to wake up. The method is called WBTB(Wake back to bed), and its just used for assistance. You can wake up after a good 7-8 hour sleep and recall your dreams then write them down. It just helps to sleep for about 4 hours, wake up for about 10 minutes, and then go back to sleep. It seems to help the mind in dreaming and dream recall, thus making it easier to remember and record your dreams.

Hi cristi and welcome :D
As ExoByte said, you don't need to wake up. If you do want to wake up though, its best to do it after a dream period, so about 3 or 4 hours after sleeping.

I think if you wake up in the middle of the night, you remember a dream, and then again another in the morning. I find it I just wake up in the morning I can only remember one.

But if i want to go with that method wbtb, how long do i have to use it?

Depends on the person... I would say 2-4 weeks or perhaps 4-8 weeks. Again, it varies...

so not forever... eventually i will remember 2 3 dreams a night without having to wake 4.5 hours after i fall asleep?

Yup. Your mind just has to get used to recalling dreams, and the WBTB method is probably one of the best. WBTB for a few weeks and you'll notice a significant change :)
