I just wanted to say hello and I am very excited to finally get some answers or possible explanations to the strange, off the wall and very bizarre dreams or nightmares I have had most of my life. Some of them are so wierd that i'm actually embarrassed to even repeat them. i have also had quite a few experiences with dream paralysis. These dreams are so real they scare me. i have also had dreams within dreams, i don't know anything about this. Paralysis sets in and i know i'm asleep and if i don't wake myself up fast something bad or scary is going to happen. sometimes i was able to wake myself feeling great relief but then somehow i realize that i'm still asleep and have to wake up again. I,m so confused and i must sound like a real crack pot, but i truly believe that dreams are messages. Now i hope that i can get some direction and advice from all you great dreamers here at dreamviews. I hope I didn't make my first posting here too confusing. i wanted to give a very brief summary of what i am actually experiencing. i don't actually know what forum or forums i should join. any help would be great.

Welcome to Dreamviews! Trust me, you don't sound like a crack pot. We have tonnes of weird people here, and considering the nature of this site, have read about some pretty weird experiances. Don't worry about being embarressed to talk to us about your dreams! We're an amazing and friendly community, and, as I said, have seen some really weird dreams. Even if yours do happen to be the weirdest, we dont consider that a bad thing at all! Check out some people's dream journals, trust me, they get WEIRD!

Your experiences may be scary, but they are not uncommon. I wish to help you uncover your answeres, if what I say does not hit the mark, feel free to continue the discussion with me.
It's clear you have vivid dreams. First, the 'dreams within dreams' is known as false awakenings. It's the act of waking up in your bed, thinking you just escaped from your dream or nightmare, only to still be dreaming! I've had this happen on numerous occasions, and you can rest assured that this is not caused by any flaw in your mind.
Second, you mentioned your dreams are very real. In dream land, not only can our five senses be perfect without tarnish, but our Amygdala (or that which causes emotion) is no longer restricted like it is when you are awake. In sleep it is very easy to feel perfect euphoria or primal fear.
Third, your condition with sleep paralysis. While it would be helpful for some more details, there are many people who wake up when the paralysis is still active. Some have to literally wait once waking up to be free from it's binding. Naturally, sleep-walkers have the opposite problem. I've had instances where I would wake up in my dream and see the real world, trapped in my own body, and then return to dreaming.
Dreams help keep our axons and brain pathways active and prevent them from detaching during sleep. Dreams commonly use recent memories or deeper feelings. While I do not think dreams are messages (With the exception of divine intervention - be it God or Satan.), I do encourage you to look until you've made your own conclusion.

Don't worry about the sleep paralysis - I know it can seem scary, but try to relax and it will pass shortly. It's just your body's way of making sure you don't act out your dreams.
