Hello all,

I first read about lucid dreaming many years ago. The article was fascinating, but it didn't include any how-to, and was before the popularity of the web. I didn’t pursue it any further at that time and largely forgot about it.

Just yesterday, I again wandered upon LD information, but this time it was at this site. The how-to seemed so simple that I decided to give it a try.

Following the given instructions for improving dream recall (and doing some reality tests), I’m happy to report that I awoke twice last night after dreaming and recorded some of the details.

The first dream was just the typical weird stuff. The second dream, however, was different. I seem to have felt and was aware of the onset of dreaming, and wanted to stay aware as the dream developed. But thinking about this and wondering if I really was beginning to dream woke me up. Actually, I think I may have only dreamed that I woke up, it’s hard to tell. Either way, when the dream continued/resumed, it wasn’t lucid, but I was interrogating other people in my dream with the vague goal of trying to determine if they were in a dream. Unfortunately, everything seemed legit at the time although I didn’t know who these people were and I couldn’t see their faces.

That’s not exactly the way it should work, I realize, but the overall theme seems right. All in all, I suppose that this isn’t bad for my first night.

Welcome aboard, I'm IceMan, a fellow Newbie. Yeah dreams can be weird... I think I had one where I was at school and the teacher taught us how to do reality checks (don't ask me why I didn't go lucid!&#33. I hope you have as much success as I've had so far...

      Hi SleepinSteven

Welcome to the forum. Its good to see that you know about improving your recall and doing RCs. Have you checked out the Tutorials Section yet? It has all your needs from induction techniques to acronym lists.

The dream that you explained seems like one of those annoying dreams where you were so close yet so far .Ah well after a few more RCs I'm sure you'll get there.

Well good luck and have fun.

      Hey there welcome.

That's a really good result for a first night, two dreams are more than many manage on first try. I'm sure you'll find as time goes by you'll remember more and more dreams. It's good you're focusig on recall first, a lot of people make the mistake of starting with advanced techniques, so it's good you're pacing yourself. Good luck!

(oh and feel free to ask any questions you might have, we're all quite nice here)

Thanks to all for the support. I've taken a couple of nights off from the journal because I have a lot of trouble getting back to sleep after the 5am cycle. I still wake up and recall the dream, just don't turn the light on and write it down. Don't worry, I'm not giving up, I just have to get decent sleep too. Going to buy EWLD today and read up.

Yeah its best to have a decent nights sleep so that you are rested. Also good choice with the book, although I haven't read, many other people on this forum have and swear by it.
