How To Get Rid Of It

Hello everybody!
i dont understand what the fuss is all about having lucid dreams...i remember i could control my dream since i was a teenager, at start i thought it was just cool, but now it really bothers me cos if i control my dream, when can i let my subconciuos express itself and tell me what i really feel?!
in the last 3 weeks (since i found out that my "ability" has a name) i got crazy trying to relax in my sleep, but i couldnt cos evertime i started to dream, i realised it was a dream, and in my dream i kept saying "oh, its not real..i want to stop dreaming! "
this was not always possible,so every morning i got up frustrated and unrelaxed.

This morning i got a breakthrough: after i realised i was dreaming, and the dream was unpleasent, i decided to get up. and so i did..i broke the dream and my sleep. of course i was feeling sleepy and tired the whole day, but at least i started to fight against controlling my dreams.

so after this small and confusing introduction, i need to know if there's a way to stop dreaming lucid. i cant do it any longer. i want a normal dream where i believe everything is real, and i get disappointed in the morning cos it was "just a dream". but at least im relaxed.

if anybody wants to start studying me, be my guest, just help me out!

You should embrace and improve your lucid dreaming skills. Ask most people - your lucid dreams can be just as "unpredictable" as your normal dreams if you don't attain control for absolutely everything. Let things flow and see where it takes you. If you have a incredibly realistic lucid dream, you will feel a lot better than when you wake up from a normal good dream.

Don't worry about not having proper 'normal' dreams. If your control is good then you can access your sub/unconscious by asking to! Or ask via a proxy e.g. a dreamguide or DC guru. If you can't understand their answers (the unconscious likes to speak in symbols for some reason) ask for a better answer, or ask for a present, a song, a painting - whatever - something you can 'take out of' the dream into waking life and more easily interpret with your fully conscious waking mind (and also with access to the internet for research - DV / google!) Ask to be taken to a dream where you can confront your deepest fears. Ask why it is that you cannot suspend disbelief. Try meditating in your dream or falling asleep!

I cant quite understand this. If you have fully lucid control why didn't you just alter the dream rather than wake yourself up? It doesn't sound like you succeeded in fighting dream control - rather you succeeded in using dream control to wake up?!

Do you keep a dream diary? What's your recall like? How many dreams a night do you remember ? How much detail can you remember? (Another way of asking this would be: How many pages would you fill describing the dreams of one night?) Does clarity/ vividness vary? In what proportion of them are you aware that you are dreamng? After how long in a particular dream do you realise that you are dreaming? What makes you realise? In what proportion do you have full control? What level of control do you have (flying? teleporting? manifesting objects? shape shifting? walking through walls? etc) Do you ever loose consciousness?!

The reason I'm asking is for partly because it may be that you are not lucid for as long as you think. Also you invited us to study you!

Can I also recommend you try relaxation methods (if you don't already)- such as various kinds of meditation? It will undoubtedly help no matter what is going on!!!

I agree with previous statements: if you have total control of your dream, you should be able to lose lucidity. Perhaps fall asleep in your own dream. If you don't have total control, since you lucid dream all the time anyway, practice shouldn't be too hard.

Theres a saying "you don't know what you've got until its gone." Maybe if you give up lucid dreaming and manage to get rid of it, you will end up missing it? But if you want to try and lose it then I suggest that while you're lucid just don't do anything, let the dream do its own thing.

When you say you don't feel relaxed, is that because your lucids are stopping your body from relaxing or you are just frustrated with not being able to have non-lucid dreams.

Well anyway good luck with not having lucids, maybe you can give help to some newbies by giving out tips on how to lucid.

thanks for ur help, and i honestly think u got the real point: maybe the point is not to get rid of it, i just need to learn not to control the dream and to watch it.
i remember a lot of the dreams, i pay a lot of attention to small details like brand of things i see, colors, numbers, but i never kept a diary cos i dont think its interesting or it has some use.
It is SO true that i am frustrated cos i cant dream normal, and also cos i dont want to become a control-freak...controlling also my own dreams.

anyway, i do some meditation, i call it "centering". i do it in the morning, i tend to be extremely unkind and in a very bad mood if i dont "center" myself. maybe i should do it also in the night...

at the end i can give u some tips to help newbies, although i still need to analyze a few things..
1-check little things like color that changes or brands . i can remember a dream of Matt leBlanc that i sadly discovered it was a dream cos his jeans brand changed twice...
2- feelings. like ur naked but ur not cold or its summer and u/people wear a pullover
3- illogical things. like i speak german to my italian parents.

but mostly i just feel its a dream and specially if i dnt like it , i change it or try to wake up.
