Physical Training In Dreams!

I'm new to LD's and i heard LDing from the movie Waking Life ( i love philosophy :) ). i seached in google and here i am. i've been researching LD's for the past 5-6 days A LOT because i'm FREAKING HOOKED on the possibilities of lucidity. Mainly because of training in dreams. For those who know what Parkour is (and i mean actually KNOW, not someone who heard about it from someone else, or heard of it from a company, like vergin mobile...), i have been training it and a big part of it is conquering fear. I'm not sure if i will conquer physical fear in LD's because the fear being conquered is always like a thing or object, and the fear i want to beat is....like jump a really long distance, dropping a long distance, vaulting something, etc. And i've read that you can conquer stuff to the end of your imagination and then some....and then some more.... . So was curious if anyone could clarify this to me :D?

As far as physical training (especially for something like parkour), the best you can expect to train for is the mental aspect of the sport. You aren't necessarily (as far as we know for sure) going to learn the muscle memory needed for your body to just dive into something like parkour, after training in dreams (but I'm sure you already know that) What you can learn, though, is the visual familiarity with some of the things you may be doing in waking life, to help propell you a little further in parkour.
You can practice high jumps and vaults, wall runs and all kinds of stuff, but, when LDing, you will be aware that you are doing these things in dreams, and that there aren't many consequences for missing a long jump, or falling face first, a dozen feet or so, after clipping one of your feet on a railing when trying a vault. Everyone's different but, as far as I'm concerned, practicing parkour in dreams is a good thing, but still, you'll probably be facing a lot more apprehension when trying the same things in waking life, ya know?

All I was gonna and is that i have heard that merely picturing a physcial act or imagining it produces some muscle twitching witch does aid in muscle growth. Only thing is...when sleeping the brain body connection is lost, so I think would maybe be more mental exercise...
Ok so...
1) what is Parkour
2) is the LD'ing it to gain freedom from fear or to actually effect your body (I think both are more than possible)

Remember this and remember it well. Fear doesn't exist in LD's. I jumped off a 1500 story building and landed on my chin, then got up and flew away. There is no limitation to what you can do. Including parkour, when you wake up you'll remember how you climbed up a building and stuff like that, but i dont suggest jumping off a 1500 story building. :wink: I for one want to study the art of Japanese swordsmanship. I'll remember the techniques when i get up. Except the slashing cars in half part i want to learn. :content: Hore that helped you!

Parkour kicks ass, props for trying it, I've never been able to accomplish anything in it. :(

I've been doing it about 1 and a 1/2 years. In the beginning, parkour should not require a lot of strength because your learning the basics, ALWAYS start at the bottum and work your way up. Later on you will need a lot of strength. The key to learning also is repitition and just getting out there and doing it. What have you been trying to do?

So far, just trying to increase my jump height, that's what's ( no pun in. ), been holding me down, from doing even the basic stuff.



I can only jump like, 6in... :(

Do squates. When you do a squat your suppost to not let your knees go past your toes but everyone is different, so experiment. You also can jump in the spot, make sure your knees don't go too past 90 degrees. If your not used to these they will tire you quickly but keep doing them, you WILL get better.

How do your knees go pst your toes!? :shock:

Sure lucid-parkour could conquer your fears. Dreams are very real. But, fear is fear. Fear is your brain telling you to double check what your your doing. Doing parkour with out fear would, well. YOu would probably kill yourself or something. Also the length and height your jumping in your dreams might not be realistic. As in, you might think you can jump this high but when your jumping from roof to roof you miss it by like 10 feet LOL. :cookiemonster: :cookiemonster:

You're are in a similar situation to myself, Parkour was my obsession right before I started lucid dreaming, unfortunately I haven't been able to do anything recently becasue of my jumpers knee :blue:

aw man, i feal for ya osimero.

And i was thinking maybe counting how many feet i can jump when i'm awake, then taking that into my LD and practice trying to get it as real as i can. And just so you know, i don't want to conquer fear past any point of Common Sense.

Edit: Oh and when i mean not past your toes, i mean farwards/backwards. Like, when you squat down, look down and if your knees go past your toes, then your bending your knees to much. Also make sure that you don't spread your feet past shoulder length.
