Hi. I'm New, And I Already Had My First True Ld.

Hi!

My name is Alprazolam ;) I am 18.

I heard about this thing called "Lucid Dreaming" from a friend who talked to a friend. I was instantly interested- As I am a naturally deep thinker and love diving into abnormal things and concepts.

I got home and found this site and did some solid research for about 45-ish minutes.

Instantly I had an idea that I may be able to accomplish something like that- Like I said, I am a naturally deep thinker, I retain on average 2-3 dreams a night, and I also am very aware of when I am falling from the stage of totally awake into partial sleep- This has just recently come about, about 5-6months ago which I believe is related to another matter. I also suffer from OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) which could be used to aid me in various techniques I have only just began to read about. I also remember at least 2-3 natural LDs I had throughout my life, and Im almost positive there were more. I also had "night terrors" as a child 2-3 times a night.

As to how much all this accounts for anything, I'm not sure but I'm excited to see.

On to my first true LD:

I did not try or think about having an LD while falling asleep- I was a little apprehensive to such a new bold event.

However I had just awoken out of my second regular dream that night/morning. Half asleep I decided to try it out and began focusing on if what was around me was real and if I was conscious.

I instantly found myself downstairs in my living room and instantly it hit me I was dreaming but I knew it. I decided to see if I really could control what was happening and began levitating around the room. I could feel my physicaly body laying in bed tingiling all over as this happened. I then noticed the kitchen lights were off and wanted to turn them on mentally but it wouldn't happened. I then was a little worried about "what if I couldnt wake up when I wanted out of this" so I thought about waking up and, I did just that.

I was astounded at first at what just took place and what possibilities this brought. This was a very short LD but I had done only 45mins of studying and technically got it on my first try.

I then almost had a SECOND LD. I was dreaming again as I fell right back into REM. I was looking at some cupboards, and as I looked at the second one down I noticed some video game boxes, I looked down at the third and decided to look back at the second and the boxes had changed and at that point I realized I was dreaming but it startled me somewhat, and I woke up.


I know I may come off as "cocky" to the LD world or as if I think I know it all, but this is not the case.
I know LDs can be hard to attain, and are not to be abused, but I am very excited and interested to do some researching and studying on this site. I am simply excited to become a student :)

Welcome to Dream Views!

It's fairly common for lights not to work in dreams, often people who otherwise have good dream control can't turn on lights even using the switch.

As to your second lucid dream, as long as you're aware you're dreaming while you're dreaming, it counts as a lucid dream, even if it fades immediately after that.

I made my second attempt at night....I felt like I ALMOST attained lucidity again...in one dream I was dreaming about what I wanted to dream about, but in third person, and didnt fully realize I was dreaming and had control.

And then 3 times I entered sleep paralysis when I was aware of it, and was dreaming but couldnt rlly attain lucidity- But could still feel myself in sleep paralysis.



I'm looking foward to what alot of actualy techniques and practice will bring for me in the future!

I've been sharing all this new found info with friends and its spreading like wild fire haha...

It's very cool that you managed dream control in your first attempt to induce a lucid dream. I too have worried about not being able to return to the waking world when lucid, especially when I have a series of false awakenings. It's a good thing you woke yourself up when you became worried. Had you "awakened" into another dream, that might have frightened you.

Did you feel the tingling sensation when you attempted dream control, or did you start feeling it the moment you became lucid? I normally only feel the tingling sensation when I try to exert my will on a lucid dream.

Sleeping Paralysis is actually relatively easy to get out of as long as you realize that you are experiencing it. When you realize that you are having SP, you should remain calm and focus on removing your dream body from your real body. The easiest way to do this is to roll out of your body and onto the floor. It is a really awesome feeling :yumdumdoodledum: . Anyway, congradulations for your LDs, and welcome to the forum!

As for your question Rob, if I remember correctly it happened right as I decided to try and levitate around the room :)


I had my first attempt with WILD this morning...I cant really tell how I feel about it. I know I need more practice and such, and much more learning. It did get me into a state of SP and light dreaming but once I noticed the SP it woke me back up :/ It happens!

EDIT: Also, does it sound correct that the accidental technique I used for my first true LD would be MILD?

I woke up sometime in the AM right out of a regular dream, meaning I was in the REM period, and simply told myself half awake over and over I would realize I was dreaming and check if everything was real, and then walah, I entered my Lucid Dream. Sound about right? Correct me if im wrong!

Yup thats a MILD technique.

wait a minute...... :holycrap: i had something EXACTLY like that happen to me, but A different dream. all of a sudden i just said OH MY GOD I'M DREAMING, THIS IS A DREAM! the thing was it didn't affect the dream at all, it remained stable and clear. but right after i said those words, i felt a weird tingling for a few seconds.

the dream ended shortly after that, because it was almost at the end anyway. i don't know why, but i just yelled the above words in my head for some reason. i could even describe the whole dream if ya want, remembering the above refreshed the whole thing in my mind instantly.

it was a weird dream, but i will tell everyone about it if they want to hear it.

I had the exact same thing happen to me last night! I was driving in my dream and the car flipped over a ridiculous number of times and I realized if it was real life I'd be dead, so then I said in my head "OH MY GOD I'M DREAMING!". I'm frustrated though, because I can't tell if I just want an LD so bad I'm dreaming about having one or if I'm actually having one! I suppose it's a step forward either way, though!
