Hi guys, you probably won't remember me but.. I'm back to give lucid dreaming another go!
Basically, I tried LDing for around 3 months, with the advice and help given from this forum. Anyway, I found it really difficult to achieve, and I only managed to achieve lucidity three times, and each of these were only for a few seconds, where I would just sit still just laughing to myself loudly in my dream, thinking "Wow, I'm dreaming!" :bigteeth:. I would completely forget to try spinning, or rubbing my hands or whatever.
But I want to try again!
Anyway, I used to keep a bit of a dream journal, and I discovered from it three main dreamsigns: (Most frequent first)
- Falling / jumping and having the gravity change.
- Electrical failure (anything from iPods to telephone systems)
- Water (usually trying to avoid it, then getting drenched by it)
However, I didn't really have a proper chance to use these, and the few times which I did manage to LD, these hadn't been triggered by these dreamsigns, to my knowledge. Unfortunately I couldn't really ask myself "Am I dreaming" whenever I see one of these dreamsigns, because they don't really occur! :content:
Tonight I'm going to try WBTB/WILDing. I've tried WILDing before, with the breathe in "1" breathe out "I'm dreaming" technique, and I have managed to get to the point where I start to feel small vibrations. [I've only tried WILDing straight from awake - I've never been able to get myself up in the night when I've set an alarm or anything!]
Tonight, however, I'm going to set an alarm across over on the other side of my room, so that I have to get out of bed to switch it on. I'll just sit down and start reading a magazine for [half an hour??] Then I'll try the technique which I have used in the past - hopefully it will be more effective if my body is tired.
From looking at my sleep cycle, I think that my dreams occur most vividly at around 7 hours after going to sleep - I normally go to sleep at 11 and wake up at 8, but when I've woken up from dreams it's usually at around 6-6.30 AM. So tonight I'll try going off to sleep at 11, and I'll set my alarm for 5.15AM...
I really want to lucid dream, but properly this time. Last night I woke up from a brilliant dream (I thought I was falling out from a plane, and I could see small fields below me, but in fact it turned out that I was just in a wind machine - someone turned it off and I fell flat onto some painted fields, about an inch from my face :P)
So, wish me luck!
Cheers.

Woo! Just woke up from a LD!
I set my alarm for 5:00AM, and I woke up then and ate a bit of chocolate, and read a magazine for 25 minutes. Then, I tried to do the WILD technique that I explained above. Unfortunately, once again, I got bored. However, when I went back to sleep normally, I tried saying to myself as I was going to sleep 'I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming'.
Unfortunately nothing happened, and I was just having a regular dream (maybe my alarm had been set a bit too early), but near the end of it I remember looking at someone and actually thought "Wow, I wonder what it would be like to know if you're dreaming..! Wait, hold on a minute!"
Then I started rubbing my hands together, but I started losing lucidity because even though I could feel the warmth, I was infact focusing on my hands and not the surroundings. So I started looking around. Then I flew for a very short amount of time, then I woke up. :P
It wasn't the greatest of LDs, and it wasn't very strong either. Still, it's the best I've had!
Just a short rundown of the dream:
I had been put into another school, and here I made some new friends. One day, everyone but my small group of friends started acting really violently towards us, trying to make us watch some animation thing. We just ran away, and I concluded that it was the animation which was 'brainwashing' them or something.
So, as you do, me and my friends started playing dares to see who could watch the most without becoming brainwashed! In the end, it was just me who was still normal.
Later on, I came to a huge crowd of brainwashed people, they were chanting something. I started chanting as well, to try and fit in, but it actually just made things worse becase somehow they knew that I wasn't one of them... so, they started chasing me again. :(
They chased me through a PE lesson (which took place inside underground, small rooms [like in Tomb Raider]) and I managed to hide in one of the rooms with a PE teacher. He gave me his camera to hold while he was talking to other people...
Wow, I just realised that this next bit is a dreamsign! Electronic Failure!
So I had the camera, was flicking through photos, and it basically broke. :P I started to run away, but on the way met my uncle at the swimming pool. He let me borrow a really nice hat. I went back to the school, and then came back down to catch my bus. I'd put down the hat somewhere, and couldn't find it again, and then the same thing happened with the camera, even though I was holding it!
The buses were coming, but the drivers were being weird and not pulling in unless they saw someone that they knew. I heard someone saying "He's going to miss his bus", I thought they meant someone else, and so I missed it. :P
I was walking back up to the school, when I saw a couple of younger kids. That's when I thought "Wow, I wonder what it would be like to know if you're dreaming..! Wait, hold on a minute!" and became lucid. :D
Cheers
