What's up guys. I'm 17 years old and just found this site through google.

I think it may have been the best thing that's ever happened to me...here's my story:

I was never the kind of person that thought much of dreams. I don't think I ever had a lucid dream (that I could remember, at least). That was until last year in high school english class. We were doing a project and I somehow got onto a site called "the shadowlands", which provides information, experiences, etc. about ghosts, aliens, and other sort of "occult" ideas. Somehow, I stumbled onto a website which talked about this experience called "astral projection", where you leave your body during sleep and travel about.

This blew me away. I've been an average kid all my life (no drugs, no drinking, just an average joe), but this just turned something on inside my mind. The idea of leaving your body and exploring an entirely different side of perception and conciousness just posesses me (not in a demonic way haha). Since then much of my life has changed. I've spent hours researching astral projection, oobe's, lucid dreaming, and the like. I've increased my knowledge of said topics as much as possible (though I'm by no means an expert), and tried to explain them to my friends as best as I can.

I also attempted to have astral projections on several occasions. After many failed attempts, I came to the realization that to successfully have an AP I needed to train myself in meditation, relaxation techniques, etc etc. I downloaded relaxation tapes, guided meditations, and such. I practiced breathing techniques and the like. I feel that I am quite comfortable with meditation now, clearing my mind of all though, and allowing my body to become numb and fall asleep with a sort of heavy feeling. I have also experienced (multiple times) an intense sense of movement or throbbing in my chest (I believe it to be one of my chakras?).

One night, while I was meditating, I was repeating to myself that I was going to awaken in a dream, and control my dream. As I was drifting off to sleep (slipping, falling, whatever you like to call it), I somehow caught myself in the in-between state of sleeping and dreaming. I experienced strange hypnagogic images (it seemed like a 3-d image of a nose with a green background and black lines fluctuating around in my field of vision). I heard wooshing sounds, and I could make out a woman's voice which seemed to be emnating from inside my head. Suddenly, my field of vision (through my closed eyes) seemed to expand for miles of blackness, sort of like I was inside a giant dark warehouse. The last thing I remember before falling asleep was the image of a giant landscape with trees, rocks, cliffs, and rivers filling my field of view.

Since then, I have been adamant in having lucid dreams and, one day, an Astral Projection.

I've taken up enough of you guys' time so I'll wrap it up. I feel very lucky to have stumbled on this (quite large...thousands of topics and responses) forum about exactly what I need in my life right now. I look forward to discussing and learning from you all.

Hi Flounder and welcome to the forum

Astral Projection is a rough topic around here because some people think it is just a WILD in disguise. How ever there are open minded people around here too. I myself am open minded about the whole situation. I think it could be real because my uncle said he did it once but then he got scared and stopped trying.

Well if it is true then LDing is supposedly a way of inducing them. There's a Tutorials Section which will give you all the LDing needs and there is a Beyond Dreaming forum here too to discuss AP.

In your Sig you have AP and WILD seperately. Its the same thing. Astral projection is nothing but sleep paralysis missinterpreted.
Lucid dreams by type:
• WILD: 0
• MILD: 3
• MILD: 0
• DILD: 2
• WBTB: 0
• VILD: 0
• DEILD: 2
Accidental LD's: 1
Total LDs: 8

AP and WILDs are two seperate things.

The beginnings of WILDing can be used as a vehicle to get to a state of Sleep Paralysis. But once you hit SP I think that's like hitting a fork in the road. You can choose to either wake again, to enter a lucid dream, or attempt astral projection. (or probably any other number of options that im not aware of or interested in at the moment)

thanks for all the replies...I've read through some of the tutorials and they seem to be pretty spot-on. Hope to talk to many of you soon! About the whole WILD / AP thing, I really don't know the difference, but I suppose I'll soon find out!
