do we always dream?
i have TERRIBLE dream recal, to the point where i don't even think i dream anymore (except for the occasional weekend dream) and when i do remember they seem very blury and not realistic (At least when i recal them). my question is do we ALWAYS dream given we go into REM? is the only "limit" on dreaming every night (if we sleep enough) our dream recal? do we always go into REM if we sleep long enough? thanks alot! :-D

EVERYONE dreams during REM cycles.
Think of your dream recall as a muscle that needs to be put in shape.
To start, set your alarm for REM cycle times.
( 4 1/2 hours into sleep, then in 90 minute intervals)
Wake up immidiately, and lay there...remember anything, even if it is FEELINGS, and write down all the major details. If you want you can elaborate in the morning.
ALWAYS do a RC after waking, and try WILD after you wake up from a dream...

Good tips LC. Yep, we always dream every night. It's only a matter of recall. Follow some of Lowercase's suggestions about timing REM cycles.

You need to work on that... :)

You always dream. Always. :P
I can't offer any advice other than good luck!

perhaps you have to take some medicine that can screw it all up, but other then that you always dream.

My advice is : dont give up!
It may seem hard, but after some time you'll develop great dream recall.
It's only a matter of finding a right recall technique. For me, thinking back
to the night and looking for anything unusual works.

WELCOME!!!
You mentioned something about the occasional weekend dream. How many hours do you sleep per day? This might be why you don't remember your dreams. The main REM periods start after 5-6 hours of sleep(at least that's what I have heard). By missing these periods you drastically decrease the amount of dream time you have. Perhaps this is your biggest problem...

good point, on weekdays i normally sleep withing 4 hours to 6 hours (max) however on weekends i sleep up to 12. maybe i should follow my mom's advice and go to sleep earlier ;-)
also, from what i heard it's 4.5 hours till the first REM cycle then 90 minutes till the next one. i'll try sleeping early tonight and see if any good comes of it.

Well you always dream but sometimes you really don't notice it.

the average person{say u sleep 8 hrs a night} will concur 7-11 dreams per night. they may seem to last an hr but at the most 7 minutes. most dreams last only sec. this tends to be the problem of recall, because of how short they r. try eating vegatables before u go to bed. it'll help u with energy lvls. :D

i read on the forum (http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3343) that vitamen B6 helps dream clarity. perhaps this will also help my dream recal. i'm going to test it tonight if i can get my hands on some B6 supplament in time (or else i'll just have some bananas).
hopefully this will help :-)
