Hey everyone,
I'm new here so I figure I should introduce myself. I've always been a dreamer - unless I sleep for less than 4 hours or I’m under a lot of stress, I almost always have vivid dreams that usually stick with me throughout the day.
I have known about lucid dreaming for some time now and it always struck me as such a unique and amazing thing to be able to do, but I never really thought it was possible to actually induce it as I thought it just happened randomly.
I read an article about lucid dreaming a few days ago and it had a link to this site; I went through a bunch of threads here and I can definitely say my interest in this has increased a lot. I have never had a LD before, but I hope I can experience one with the help of all the information and experiences here :)
It seems like you have a great community with a lot of helpful people, I'm glad I found this place. Although at first it was a little tough trying to decipher some of the posts with all the acronyms that are floating around here lol ;)
Cheers

Hi there and :welcome: to the forum.
It's a great place here and is very helpful. There's a Tutorials Section with its own Acronym List too :)
Well have fun and good luck.

Hi Oasis.
Welcome to Dream Views, the greatest lucid dreaming site in existence.
It does sometimes seem like we're talking in some sort of top secret code to each other with all the acronyms used. You're lucky I'm a bit tired, I was going to be a pest and write up a post crammed full of those annoying little acronyms. :D
Stick around, read up and interact a lot on the board and you should find yourself having a lucid dream in no time. hang out and have fun. Hope to see you around.

Hey welcome.
The community is generally pretty helpful, so feel free to ask questions about stuff you don't understand.
I suggest you check out some tutorials first though, so you have a basic understanding :)

We're very happy to have you! I hope you have a nice time while you're here. If you need any help, you can always ask!

Hello Oasis. As you can see, the people here are very nice and willing to help. Enjoy your stay. :)

hey you're not gonna increase his warning level for saying "moon pie"?
lol

Haha, with all the "Hello" thread titles I figured I'd throw something random into the mix. I didn't know pastries were a source of contention around here lol
Anyways thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Yeah I was lucky to quickly stumble onto that acronym list... It definitely makes the tutorials and explanations a lot more clearer!
With all the different -ILDs its tough to choose which induction technique to try out... Although to me it seems like it would be really hard to have a DILD. I don't see how people can actually realize they are dreaming while doing so. Every time I dream it is sort of like I'm brain dead - I can't think for myself. I can just feel/see/hear what "I" am going through in the dream; even though I see a ton of dream signs I just accept everything as normal. Is it supposed to come with a lot of practice of doing RC's in real life, that eventually you will do one automatically while dreaming? Even then I'll still probably accept that I can breathe through my nose when its pinched closed! ;)

Haha, welcome to the forums man!
I started off with DILDs and then started using a sort of alternative to WILD ( http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/inde...howtopic=45634 ). You should consider buying a few books if you really wanna get into it, heres some i can suggest off the top of my head
Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge - It has excercises to help recall, different induction techniques, relazation techniques, and pretty much everything else you need to know
Teach Yourself To Dream by David Fontana - Although I haven't heard anyone from the forum say anything about it, I bought it online for $3 and it was well worth it. It has excercises focused on non-lucid dreaming, but i have been able to get about 10 LDs just from using some of the excercises before bed.

Hey MD, thanks for the welcome. :)
I can't believe it but I actually had my first LD last night. I induced it using the [topic="5270"]FILD[/topic] technique. It was my 6th night in a row attempting it. I can't believe how real it felt. I just finished writing it out in my DJ, and I’ll try to post it later as I have a final exam I gotta study for tomorrow. Oh, and considering I was complaining about the acronyms in my first post I sure am using them a lot now lol
