Note to self, and all: IF YOUR A BEGINNER AND HAVE POOR DREAM CONTROL, DON'T FLY!!

UGHHH!!! Its' the most angering thing ever!!! :mad: Last night I had a lucid and of course through my lack of focus, I COULD have done something useful, I COULD have but I didn't. All I did was fly, which I've been able to do for half my life now anyway. I could have searched for my dream gaurdian, I could have practiced making objects with my mind, but no I had to be an idiot and fly. I was so focused on flying and keeping control of my flight that I forgot I was lucid and lost dream control. I was lucid for a resounding 10 or so seconds. It's only my second lucid of my life too. My last one was about five years ago, but I've only been studying this for about a week or so. Anyone else have this problem as a beginner?

Maybe you should sing " ♫ LUCIDITY, GOTTA GET SOME O' THAT LUCIDITY!!! ♫ " while you're flying so that you won't forgot you're dreaming.

I did face something similar in my first lucid dream (after knowing what lucid dreams are of course)

in my case, several false awakenings got me lucid, but I still couldn't get out of bed because of the false awakenings

so I tried to fly my way out... well, it worked, but I lost lucidity instantly and the dream lost a bit of vividness
Hopefully I RCed and found out I was lucid again (getting lucid twice in a dream xD)
but it really happened to me


I guess the problem is not about dream dontrol, but about being too excited/putting too much effort on flying... As I usually say, dream control consists of watching the dream and changing the things you'd like to - not completely taking over the dream

but if you're still bad with dream control, try to daydream a bit... it helps a lot
And try to do hard things when daydreaming as well (like watching your feet moving as you walk, diving, digging, going through objects etc)

I actually did something similar to what Infraredkelp said. I saw my father walk by, then I saw him walk by again. W/o even doing a reality check I realized I was lucid and began repeating "Oh my God, Im Lucid Dreaming!!!" over and over again. A random DC walked up to me and put both arms on my shoulders and started repeating everything I was saying. So I ran and took flight over my town. The whole time it was night and I was looking at all the lights below me. I was looking for a place to land and found a house with a glass roof on it. I eventually landed there, but by the time I did I wasn't lucid anymore. I was so surprised I didn't even think to rub my hands, or yell "INCREASE LUCIDITY" or "STABILIZE LUCIDITY" etc., not even to spin around, or even visit a place. The feeling of control was so exhilerating, and I am very grateful to this sight for taking me this far. This is only the beginning I guess. Anyone else with dreaming problems I recomend you just try harder. Yesterday I did at least 20 or so RC's and they seemed to work. I'll update when I get better at this and manage to accomplish something

If I remember correctly, the first time I had an LD I was so excited I promtly woke myself up. Sometimes I still wake myself up when I try something new.

Once you get over the first hill, everything gets a lot better. :)

wait, you've been able to fly for half your life but you've only lucid dreamt twice? does that mean that you just fly in your normal dreams? If so, then dont feel too bad about flying in a lucid. It's more fun flying when you're lucid because it feels more real.

I had the same thing happen to me two nights ago, except I couldnt fly out of my bed or anything. I was just stuck under my sheets. Really boring, and I was annoyed that I was lucid and couldn't really move.

My first 2 LDs were so useless. I got better though.

Are you saying that by flying Vis-A-Vis being in the air for a long period of time you lost Lucidity because you were focuses on a single task for an extended amount of time and therefore you were lucid, but then lost it?

Quite a odd experience I can say in my many years of LD'ing this has not happened to me, however I was not good at flying when I was young so there could be where I was not able to do what you were doing because I was not able to fly.

Hmmm sounds like it could be a Low Level Of Lucidity accompinied with poor Dream Control that lead to the problem. Keep practicing and you should be able to increase your awareness and Lucidity giving you better Logic etc.

Well, before I knew about lucid dreaming, I would realize I was dreaming and start to fly, and the same thing would happen. But now I do something to remember that I'm dreaming, like constantly rub my hands together (which also helps the stability of the dream.)

I suprisingly flew quite well in my first ever lucid dream. I even hovered just above the ground. The stability was perfect, and the dream lasted at least a minute.

Enjoy flying around, its fun if you've only had 2 LD's in your entire life, just practice flying that is a type of dream control, practice flying while being happy but not so exciting that you lose the dream, if you stay calm you'll be fine being happy doesn't mean you'll lose the LD.
