      Strange sensation when falling asleep.

      Hello everyone.
My name is Jorge Jacinto, i'm 17 years old and i live in Portugal.

I found this website today, this was the first time i have heard of lucid dreams.

I already had lucid dreams, but i didn't know it was something that we coud learn like this, so, from now on I will practice everyday, because i think this is a fantastic way to achieve a good personal development.

But the reason i'm doing this topic, is because sometimes, when i am about to fall a sleep, i have a very frightning sensation. It is like I am between dream and reality, and there is always this strange feeling of something like a strong force of gravity in my body, I can see things like in a dream, but I am aware of the state i'm in and i feel afraid and i always try to wake up, and the only way to do that is to force my body to move, or to force my eyes to open, but it can be hard sometimes because i feel like i dont have total control of my body. And whenever i wake up, the next time i fall a sleep the same thing happens, i have to get up and take a walk around the house to be able to sleep well.
This happens pretty often sometimes and is really scary..

Anyone has any idea what this might be?

Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad english

      Hello and welcome Blinc.

What you had experienced is exactly that. A state between dreaming and reality. But it is nothing to be frightened of.
This is often how people manage to gain lucidity from the onset of sleep. A method called WILD. A wake initiated lucid dream.
Your conscious mind normally subdues to your subconscious and you fall asleep.
In your case your waking, conscious mind remained aware. This may have induced sleep paralysis or hypnagogic states.
In short you were half in a dream. It was just your mental awareness through the going to sleep process that initiated this.

      Let it happen

Usually what breeds fear is lack of information.
When you realize that there is no harm being done and at this stage of consciousness it is natural.
It can be used as a learning tool. Altered states of consciousness can very endlessly and something to be admired.

Hi there and welcome to the forum

Howie pretty much gave a good indepth description of it. No matter how scary it is, just remember that it can't hurt you. After all its a natural process that people go through.
