So how long did it take you guys before you could go lucid? I tried last night and I'm almost sure that during my dreams I was thinking "this is a dream" but it wasn't doing anything. I was however, alot more aware of my dreams then usual and I wrote down what I could remember when I woke up.
off topic, but in one of my dreams I got stabbed through my chest like Macbeth in the Roman Polansky movie but by a girl in my english class...

For me it took about a month, but, it all depends on the person. For some it only takes a few days and for other it can take months...just keep at it and it'll all come. :)
It took me 2 weeks really. As Qwin said its different for everybody.
That "knew you was dreaming" sounded like a little bit of lucidity to me, just not much.
Oh and the stabbing thing was just a dream, there is an Interpretation forum here, which may prove useful to you.
What about practicing
Can you practice techniques, even if you know you probably won't achieve a WILD.
Like, I actually just started last night, with I think some success, but I want to get better obviously. Nothing is more painful than waiting till you can go to bed next (never thought I'd say this)
Can you practice in any sleep situation regardless of whether you'll enter REM sleep or not... and if you do
will it benefit you when you are actually in a situation where you can achieve a WILD
It's always good to practice new techniques. If you think you probably will fail WILD you'll fail.
And I had my first lucid after 1 1/2 month.
