WILD whiteout sleeping first ?

Hi along time ago when I started trying whit LD's I had a friend that always WILD whiteout sleeping first? Hi never had a problem whit that.
But her everyone say they u shod sleep a copal of hours first why? Is it easier then or is it yeast a way to get more relaxed? (My friend used meditation before he go to bead)

Hi was pretty good at WILD (Hi had LD for about 10 year )

I guess the fact he meditates makes all the difference. It is suggested to try WILD after 5 or 6 hours of sleep because that is when the large 90 minute periods of REM take place...
