      Dream the same dream again...

Is there any way to force myself to dream the same dream I had last night? Because it was terrific - to die for really! It was quite unique and detailed too, which makes it difficult.

Well, that's kind of hard to do, I would advise just visualizing it as you go to sleep, as many details as you can, let yourself get involved with it, make sure it is your last though as you go to sleep. Keep focusing on it, you should have something somewhat relate within a few days.

Hey welcome to the forum! What bro said sounds like good advice. If you happen to get lucid, try spinning and visualizing the scene. Or open a door while visualizing the scene. Or fly there. Or drive. Or open a portal... *rambles*

Well if you're lucid then you can try to make it happen again. Or before you go to sleep you can keep repeating to yourself that you will re-dream it. Self suggestion usually works with this sort of stuff.

Some dreams are recurring, so with any luck you might have it again like that.

Oh course, if you get lucid you could try to re-create it. Might not be successful though, worth a shot.

Oh and self-suggestion like NeAvO said, really good stuff.

You can sometimes sucessfully pull it off, if you keep it on your mind alot then its possible it may project in your dream thus you having the dream or even continueing the dream. Best of luck to you.

Alright, I can DEFININTALY relate to wanting to dream a dream again! I'm not a master of this by any means, but I have found a method that may help.

When you do your RCs (you are doing RCs, aren't you?) and you realize you aren't dreaming, imagine what it would be like if you were dreaming your desired dream. Just thinking about the dream alone helps. For instance, whenever I catch myself feeling a particularly strong emotion, I try to think about my dream. I'll do a RC, and if I'm awake, I imagine if I was in my perfect dream scenario. I've had about five dreams extremely close in nature to what I wanted in a three month period, and a few more that were slightly similar. It's really just an enhanced reality check, I guess, but it seems to work. As a bonus, RCs are essential in attaining lucidity, which you can then make the dream even more like you desire, as everybody's said.

Connecting quality RCs to strong emotions seems the key to me. Hope I helped!

*sob* I think I was so worried and trying so hard to have the same dream that my mind wandered and... well I ended up dressing up like gwen stefani and dancing with glo sticks for a competition. before that i drifted in and out of sleep and was just really restless. i had a few nonsesical dreams or whatever, but i was aware i was dreaming and that it wasn't the dream i wanted to have.

or i might have been too tired for proper self suggestion. when i went to bed it was past 2am. lucid eh.. sounds like something i should start working towards.

@Richter - RCs!? I'm a poor newbie.. (cont. after some reading on lucid dreaming..) Hmm, that's really interesting. I found a list of RCs and I'm pretty excited about trying them out. Gonna try them in my dream tonight although I doubt I'm familar enough with RCs to do them in my sleep. Anyways, I'll try connecting my dream to some strong emotions and see what happens.

I've had a few lucid dreams before (or a few moments in a dream where I knew I was dreaming and could control my actions to a certain extent)... but I usually use them to scramble up the nearest building/tree and jump off it so I can fly ;D But to actually control a dream sounds pretty exciting... Hmm I think I'm going to start working towards being lucid.
