dreams dreams dreams
iv just registered to this site and although new to this site i have been having LDs for about five years now.i have come up with alot of my own techniques to attain a high level of lucidity and to also maintain it as i sometimes as i call it"drop out"of the dream once im aware i am actually dreaming.Until i came across this site i had no idea these types of dreams that are quiet normal to me are something others deliberately try to attain.to me they are now second nature. One of my favourite activities during a dream is to fly,and i do this quiet regularly,at least once a week.Once i become aware im dreaming i turn whatever the dream is to being outside and use my shoes as my flying tool.My shoes are my propultion to fly.The reason that started me to realise mid dream i am actually dreaming was nightmares i believe were due to childhood trauma and upon realising that im having a nightmare i was then able to wake myself up.From there iv managed to controll my dreams and change them to whatever i want.If im dreaming and become aware of it and decide id like some mudcake then the cake appears. The downside of this is that i cannot taste the cake.one of my techniques to test if im asleep or awake is to pinch myself. If i cant feel it im asleep n dreaming.A couple of months ago i did this and couldnt decide so in my dream i got a knife n cut myself. No blood n no pain equalled that i was dreaming but i recommend noone attempt this as i was freaked that id done that.Looking back on that one i realise now that i had believed i was dreaming other wise i would not have attemped the knife trick. One other thing i noticed i can do and i really dont know what state of awake or asleep i am when i do this is if i have a problem i cant find an answer to if i think about it and get in that not awake not asleep state i get the answer.I dont know what this is called.anyone have the answer?

Hi raeriga, welcome to Dreamviews!
First of all it's much better to use paragraphs when you post messages, otherwise it's nearly impossible to read it. Just press Enter every few sentences...
Your technique of reality checking with a knife is a bit risky... Look in the tutorials section of the site, and you will find many good options for testing whether you are dreaming or not.
This state you talk about in the end of your post, doesn't have any special name to it I think, it's just dosing off. I do it too: sometimes when I run into a difficult problem, or get stuck in programming, I suddenly become very tired, and I dose off.
After a few minutes I wake up and I can solve the problem. It is as if the brain wants to do some background processing on it's own to help me solve the problem :)

*brain explodes*
Line breaks, man!
Also, there are many more safer and more reliable ways to test if you're dreaming. Dreams can be very vivid at times, including sensations of pain. Instead of pinching yourself (which can fail often), plugging your nose to see if you can breathe, or seeing how many fingers you have on each hand (hint: if it's more or less than your normal you're probably or need to go to a hospital right away) seems to work a lot better.
