I'm New, QUESTION
Hey guys
I'vee been loosely trying to lucid dream for a while now, but haven't really taken it seriously or anything.
Here's the thing though, I have an issue with recall and dreams in general.
It seems that I only have dreams in the MORNING, like after i've woken up and fallen back asleep. So let's say I wake up at 9am...but its too early so I go back to sleep, THAT's when I have the most detailed vivid dreams (and sometimes lucid)
But I almost NEVER have dreams during the actual night .... either that or i can NEVER remember them (which sucks).
What's weird is ...aren't you supposed to only have dreams during REM sleep? And isn't rem sleep supposed to happen after about 90mins of deep sleep? How can I get to REM sleep so fast in the morning....to be able to have these amazing dreams (WHICH BY THE WAY ONLY LAST 30 MINS AT THE MOST, AFTERWHICH I WAKE UP)
Is this normal? Does anyone else have these really vivid dreams in the morning AFTER they've woken up and fallen back asleep??

Actually, you are in fact having dreams (most) of the night. IIRC, your dreams become increasingly longer the longer you are asleep.
Did you recently start trying to improve recall? When I first started, I could only remember the very last dream or two I had before waking. It seems that the better my recall becomes, the farther back I can remember through the night.
Also, you are in your REM period all night, and a while after waking. It doesn't just shut off after a dream.
Just give it time, and be consistent with your recall work, if you are doing any. Good luck!

Well the reason that you have very vivid dreams after you have woken up and then gone to bed is because as you sleep, your REM periods become longer and closer together. In the morning when you have a lot of REM and when you wake up it doesn't cancel out the REM, if you go back to sleep straight away you'll continue to dream. As for the reason why you remember them... I can only assume that you are retaining a little alertness as you go to sleep and then sleep lighter because of that, making it easier to remember your dream. I'm not sure on that though. Second opinion anyone?
