      Advice On My WILD

I've been using the WILD technique. I go into sleep paralysis within 20 minutes and see images spinning around and experience vibrations that I read about in the tutorial section. The problem is I still don't know what the final step is. How do I jump from relaxation to my lucid dream?

Did you read any tutorials on WILD? Try Clairity's guide for starters.
      LD Counter (as of 07.25.07) = 5 (2 WILDs)
Short-term goal: Recall three full dreams a night for a full week.
Long-term goal: Have three LDs per week for one month.
Longer-term goal: Have one six-hour LD every night! (Shooting too high? We'll see.)
Waking life goal: Round up some NPSG equipment to study my own sleep patterns.

The tutorials are great, and there's countless threads on WILDing all over the forum. It's a popular topic (obviously) because it can give you the ability to LD at will.

Thanks alot, I read Clarity's guide and it really cleared up small details that I was unsure of. Last night I attempted to WILD and I heard a man talking to me but I couldn't understand it. I was actually caught off guard because I thought it would take a while to see/hear anything.

RageOfAchilles (may I call you RofA? ), I'm glad my guide was of some help to you!

It sounds like you're off to a great start!

May you be successful very soon!

Haha yes you can call me RofA if you like... I also hope to be successful soon. Can you help me get ahold of the final step, "rolling out" of your consciousness. Although it's probably hard to explain how do I know it's the right time to act on the dream images I'm presented with?

RofA, as I stated in my tutorial, the knowing of "when" I can move is something that has come from practice and from trial and error. The following is also from my tutorial:

If you should see patterns, images and/or hear sounds (with or without vibrations), do NOT move but continue with your steady breathing and just go along casually catching glimpses of the patterns/images and/or listening to the sounds. With luck, a dream scene will appear that you may simply "be pulled into" or instantly just become a part of.

If all you're experiencing is vibrations, you could wait until you feel that the vibrations are at their strongest point and try to roll out/stand up.. or you could wait until you also feel the "shift" and then trying to roll out/stand up. The best way I can describe the "shift" is that I'm suddenly aware that my consciousness is different. I may realize that suddenly I've jumped into some random thought from where I was.. or I feel like my mind has "blinked".. or I feel a slight sinking feeling in my head and/or body.

When I first began WILDing, I experienced vibrations and the loud *fingernails on the chalkboard*, but sadly now I no longer feel vibrations, see patterns nor hear sounds. I miss them as they confirmed to me that I had entered mind awake/body asleep.

All I experience now is the subtle but distinctive shift in my consciousness, I simply wait until I know that I can roll out/stand up.
I've missed many opportunities to be lucid due to waiting around for vibrations, scenes or sounds to either start or grow stronger.

Unfortunately it's a very fine line between reality checking or moving too soon (and not totally being in body asleep) and reality checking or moving too late and missing that exact moment and simply falling asleep and winding up in a non-lucid dream.

If all goes well (and I don't just fall asleep), I feel a familiar "shift/falling" sensation (which alerts me that my body is falling asleep while my mind is still awake). I wait until I feel it ONCE MORE and, though I seem to fall asleep, I immediately sense that I'm dreaming and I do a reality check (be it plugging my nose and seeing if I can breathe or looking at my watch twice and seeing if the time changes).

If the reality checks fail, I'll slip into lucid dream.

NOTE: Sometimes after feeling the "shift".. I will simply roll over and stand up as I just KNOW that I'm lucid. I can't recall if I open my lucid eyes or see "through" my eyelids. I do know that if I wait TOO long, the shift window closes and I can't stand up/become lucid. Once I feel the shift TWICE.. I attempt to stand up or do a reality check whether I feel like I'm lucid or not (as it may just be that I'm having a false awakening)!

RofA, I've said all that to say this: only you can tell when the time is right and that knowledge will come as you get to know yourself and your lucid patterns/behaviors.

I wish there was a rule set in stone about it but I understand that it isn't the same for everyone and I guess it will take me making some mistakes to get the result i'm after.

So Clairity, is it safe to say that you can LD at will? If so, that's awesome, I can't wait till I'm able to do this.

Not at all! If I could LD at will, I'd DILD every night!

I have to work for every LD via WBTB and WILD.. and even then I'm not successful every attempt.
