I personally fall asleep much easier by listening to my iPod in bed, but I was wondering if this may have any negative effects on my dream recall? And for when I manage lucidity, can music negatively affect this in any way?

depends on the music i guess
Last night I tried listening to Chicago. I didn't recall anything to put in my journal, but I'm not sure it's Chicago's fault. I just started this on Wednesday so I don't think my mind has caught on to the fact that I want to recall my dreams yet
music sounds totally different and a lil'bit louder when your sleeping and it all depends on how your listening 2 it
I can't see how this could affect recall, unless it was because you were concentrating on the music too much and not on recalling your dreams
I know if I fall asleep with music on I wake up at some point during the night and usually can't remember any dreams in detail but have the feeling that I had one. It could be that it was just a short one or that I was just coming out of deep sleep and thats why the music woke me up. I think Christian radio stations are good to listen to because you can fall asleep during a sermon (very easy because it just someone talking and it doesn't change alot) and then it goes to calming music for most of the night. I find that even if I have listened to music half of the night (I put the cd player away when I wake up with it on [or me on it:D]), I will have normal or above normal recall in the morning.
For me, listening to music before I go to sleep gives me much more vivid and exciting dreams, and also improved my chances of lucidity. I would think that it depends on the person, though.
Actually this just gave me an idea (though I'm sure its probably been thought of before), what if you wake up from a WBTB and then try a WILD while listening to music. You could keep your mind focused on the music and try to relax yourself as much as possible and maybe you could enter SP. Anyone wanna try it?
That might just be what I need to finally WILD... I'll have a go tonight, thanks!
Warning: :hijack: Hijack Incoming:
Spoiler for TOPIC HIJACK:
I'll go set up a WILD'ing playlist. I imagine I am not the first to do so...
I'll report back here tomorrow morning.
If you wish to fall asleep to music/sounds, there are plenty of MP3s and MP4s which have lucid dreaming subliminals imbedded in them that you could listen to.
Simply do a search on this forum using the words lucid mp3* or Lucid mp4*.
