That's weird, I have never had something like that happen to me (usually I become lucid when I think of anything dream related in my dreams). It seems though that you may easily commute your waking thoughts into your dreams. You could use this to your advantage by thinking about doing an RC or remembering that you will be dreaming while falling asleep, it might just work...

I've explained Lucid Dreaming to my friends multiple times... in my dreams, and not realized that I'm dreaming.

Looks like you got the question asking part working, so maybe if you constantly ask yourself whether you are dreaming you can increase the likeliness of you asking yourself in the dream like you did that night. But even though that could be enough you can always go a step further by bettering your recall so that you are more likely to recognise that your asking yourself this within the dream, in other words have a little more awareness in the dream to answer the question. Improving your dream recall will help you improve on your awareness.

It takes practice and will power. I've just recently gotten my recall to a good stable level after realising the effect of lying in bed and remembering but I still have times when I drift off to sleep in the morning for another half hour and end up forgetting the dreams I recalled but didn't record.

It's annoying when this happens, I knoa, but you're not stupid. It happens to everyone. It's a very good sign that you're questioning reality in your greams, very good indeed.

Wow thats interesting. Too bad I cannot fall asleep ever... grr. It always takes me a year to fall asleep. I usually end up falling alseep to thinking about can't i just sleep already... lol

Sounds like a false awakening. I hate those. Once I wrote down my dream in a FA, and when I awoke, I couldnt remember it. :(. stupid thing if itd only let me actually write in my DJ in my dream...
