How long with recall?
Hello. I am new here, my first post. I have wanted to LD for a long time, and have been working on it for the past 4 days or so. I have been working on dream recall currently, trying to use a dream journal, etc.
Last night was the first night that I remembered enough of my dream after I awoke that I could write down a short paragraph. I remember it still now, (the next night). It wasn't anything really weird, just me being a ninja, hunting somebody, lol. I don't really remember the dream clearly, just an idea of what happened.
My real question is, WHEN should I try to go into lucidity. Can I start that now, or should I make my dream recall much better before even bothering?

Anyway, you should get to 1-3 dreams per night before you start. You can try for lucidity before that, but chances are if you succeed in lucidity you won't remember it, so...
Continue your dream journaling, even if you just remember a theme, color, feeling. I can also acheive supreme recall by repeating "I will remember my dreams" to myself before bed, until I fall asleep. I can usually remember 2-4 dreams every night I do this, but it takes determination. Hope this helps, and good luck!

In Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge, he states that you should have at least 12 dreams (total) written down in you dream journal, and begin to recognize your dream signs before you are ready to begin lucid dreaming. You should be remembering at least 1 dream per night, but the more you practice, the more you remember. Some people get to where they remember 6 dreams per night. (Which is my goal, my highest so far is 5.)

I am sort of at the same level as you. been working on my dreams off and on for about a year with mixed results. but, what I like to do when "working on getting lucid" is just be very mindful of my thoughts and breathing as I fall asleep and I try to hold on to consciousness while not trying to keep myself awake. Im not sure if it helps with becoming lucid but i think it helps with recall and with becoming more comfortable with the line between sleep and wakefulness.
but i would love to hear some more thoughts on the matter.

Actualy u should try to get the LD every night, but, as said before, u wont have a lot of chances if u dont get better in the dreaming recal abilitie...
anyway, if u have no patience here are son easy tips:
-eat a banana befor going to sleep, the B6 vitamine helps in proces
-Drink wather, at least 3 glases, it helps to wake in the dream, and it cleans ur kidneys..
-if u realy have no patience, ... try the binaural brainwave beats, here is the link to tutorial...:boogie::boogie::boogie:

and, while ur awake, put an alarm every hour in ur clock to remind u the question: is this a dream?
then look at ur hands, if it is a dream u may have more fingers...
and read anything u have near twice, in a dream the content changes...
(sounds stupid, but in a dream u accept any stupid thing happening, unles u have in ur memory that the specified event is a dream sign, so ur "logic" and ur "conciendce" will be activated...this leads to the luciditi in the dreams)
this will take u like 10seconds every hour, and eventualy it will happen in a dream!

I'd say it's an idea to be remembering about two dreams a night before trying techniques such as WBTB and WILD. Though, doing things like reality checks is a good idea all the time.

It would be pointless to attempt an LD if you won't remember it in the morning. If you take a look around, you'll find alot of helpful info to help you build up your dream recall and start having lucid dreams.
