Noob here.
Hi, I registered here about a week ago, and this here's my first post. I knew about lucid dreaming for a while, and even had, as far as I can recall, 3 of them in my lifetime (the latest having happened many years ago), but it was only 3 weeks ago that I decided to really try to get into it. I've been keeping a dream journal in that time, and while it was blank for many days at first, the last week or so, I've had 1 or 2 entries every day, which gets me encouraged.
Today was the most significant, which is sort of what prompted me to post here; first of all, the dream recall was heavily delayed - I woke up, and for 5+ minutes, I was convinced that I couldn't recall any dream. All of sudden, though, as I was thinking, almost the entire dream came rushing back to me. It actually shocked me how much I could remember, considering that my mind was just blank merely seconds ago.
Second, this was the first dream since my few lucid dreams when I actually questioned whether or not I was dreaming. One of my dreamsigns that I've noted is that when I run, I for some reason have a hard time, almost as if the force that I put on my foot doesn't all get to the ground. Another is that I find myself having to run - whether chasing someone or being chased. Both happened, and for a second, I paused and asked myself whether or not I was dreaming. Unfortunately, without doing any reality checks, I just said, "Nope, this is real, and stop distracting yourself, you need to get somewhere!" Has anyone else done something like that? It's a bit discouraging, but I'm hoping I won't make the same mistake next time.

Hey there lvlln and :welcome: to the forum :)
Its good to here you are keeping a dream journal, dreams can be funny, just one single little detail or thouht can trigger you to remember alsorts of details, its quite cool, you will get used to it eventually, it is pretty cool.
Yeah, it can be very annoying when you question your dreams and then completely forget the fact that you questioned and just assume that you are awake, my suggestion is that you don't let it discourage you, see it as progress, let it show you what you've got to do to improve, you need to incorporate some hard reality checks that will work, just work on your reality checks and put in effort and emotion into them and i guarantee they will work for you! Best of luck to you and i hope you have many lucid dreams to come, just don't feel annoyed if you don't suceed straight away, your constantly progressing!
If you have any other questions feel, free to ask :)

Hello and welcome to dreamviews! Ya lucid dreaming is really exciting i myself have never fully experienced it and am very new myself! My dream recall has also been somewhat delayed in the past, its actually pretty neat to remember it a few minutes later. But it sounds like you were very close!! Good luck on dreamviews!

HI and welcome to Dream Views.
Dream recall can be severely delayed. It is good to lay in bed for a while and just let your mind drift back if you have the time. Sometimes when you don't remember a dream first thing it will come crashing to the forefront of your mind out of the blue. That's usually a nice surprise.
And do start reality checking. It does come in handy. I failed to do that in a dream I had a couple of nights ago. I was flying around and wondered if I was dreaming. In dream I decided if I could fly over the telephone wires I was in a dream. If I couldn't... then i mustn't be dreaming. Well, I never flew over the wire so I ended up missing out on a lucid dream. I should have reality checked as soon as I questioned the situation. Dream me is not the brightest bulb in the pack. ;)
