A n00b's question which will prob get me in trouble!!

Hi everyone.
I'm new, and this is my first post, I'm fascinated by lucid dreaming and have been since i saw Waking Life (hands up ppl who've seen it?!!).
Anyway,...
just wondering what are peoples thoughts on cannabis + lucid dreaming?? D'you it's a good or bad idea, or does it make a difference.

P.S. I don't wanna come across as a mad druggie, but i do enjoy an occasional spliff, but thats as far as i would go regarding drugs.

I have personally never used any supplements to help with my lucid dreaming..

I have also not tried any drugs such as tetrahydracannibinol, cocaine, etc. etc.

I know of all the neurological effects, however.. but no personal experience..

I just thought; this was quite useless for me to post.. but then again, I have never stated on this board whether or not I have used any drugs.. *Shrugs* Leave me alone.

Cannabis apparantly can cause you to have very vivid/lucid dreams, but the effects seem to be entirely erratic. Using supplements to help obtain lucidity is like using steroids to help you be more athletic.

HEY :o) i am wondering the same thing...i smoke quite a lot and wondering if this is inhibiting my dream recall etc...although i'm not willing to give up as of yet :) i've been looking for info on the net but cant find anything..if you find anything let me know!

no, its very bad to mix it with LDing, it will inhibit them. You gotta find yourself and no drug can induce truly great LD's.

Melatonin and b-6 are the only 2 that get my approval, melatonin can help you sleep and b6 can (doesn't mean it always will) enhance them.

However my greatest LD's were experianced without any drugs, just a good mindset.

in my experience the more i smoke (the ganja) the less i dream (or atleast remember my dreams).
for me it seems to be an inverse coralation between the two...

That is completely correct. I use the drug on a somewhat regular basis and can say right now that it will inhibit dream recall...

I dont know how it actually affects dreams, it probably makes them extremely vivid, but it would likely put you in an observational position rather than provoking LD's, but... What good is all this if you cant remember a damn thing in the morning???!!!

I know when I cut down, or stop smoking all together, dream recall DRAMATICALLY increases. Last week, I quit cold turkey, and bit by bit, dream recall is getting better and better. Keep in mind that THC stays in your system for 4 to 8 weeks after you completely quit.

I've never tried the wacky tobaccy before and don't plan to any time soon, so I couldn't help you with this anyway. :P

Im a regular dope smoker, but for a couple of weeks I didnt smoke and I started a dream journal... my recall got quite good then I started smoking for a couple more weeks and I noticed a direct effect on my ability to dream. Any nights that I smoked cannabis I had hardly any dreams at all... at the moment Im not smoking it, I might have a bit now and then but not every day.

One thing I noticed, after smoking regular for a week or two then stopping suddenly, my dream mind explodes...its as if its been supressed for so long that when I finally dont smoke for a night it goes mental and my dreams become extra vivid.

I smoke every night and have also noticed the effect on my dreaming. I find it very easy to fall asleep stoned, but I don't dream. When I started trying to have an LD I could not remember having a single dream for months and months. I said to someone, "I don't think I have had a dream in years."

I tried not smoking at all but I have alot of trouble falling asleep without it, so I have been experimenting a bit with this problem. I find that adding a couple of hours to my sleep time gives me one or two dreams that I can remember every day, all of them in the last hour or two of sleep. On seven hours of sleep I never remember a dream. On nine hours I dream every night. I have also been making it a point to get as much physical activity in as I have time for each day. Breaking a sweat for a half hour seems to help me get to sleep while smoking less weed. And hey, it can't hurt to work out a bit anyway, right?

I think it is not possible that you don't dream when you're stoned. I know REM is important to your mental functioning when awake, and I think if I was actually not getting into REM for months at a time I would be sick from lack of REM, which is not the case. I think you just sleep very soundly and never rouse enough between dreams to remember anything. Maybe one weekend I will play with an alarm clock to wake me and see if I catch any dreams early in the night.
