      More than Sleep Paralysis or a Dream? A rather lengthy post

      NOTE: This post is kind of long...

      I found this forum while searching for "sleep paralysis." Anyways, I thought I would chime in with my experiences with it, as I had a most interesting experience last night. For the past 3 or more years I've found myself being unable to move while trying to fall asleep at night. I normally feel a rather tight feeling all over my skin, and something inside me causes a vibrating sensation all over my body. At first I could do nothing, I just felt panic then eventually snapped out of it. Over time, however I've managed to be able to open and close my eyes, slightly wiggle my toes and fingers, and whisper (though I can not form verbal words, mostly "Aahh"s and "uuh"s), though I can not seem to alleviate the panic feeling; I then eventually regain my motor skills and can move. Lately I've been searching on the internet for answers to this problem (as it happens at least 4 nights a week and many times a night), I came across many instances of people who claim to have out of body experiences often feeling paralysis just before "escaping" their bodies, I decided why not give it a shot (note: I personally do not subscribe to the thought of a "spiritual" being, as is implied by astral projection) . Last night I had another paralysis spell again, this time however, I forced myself to remain calm and opened my eyes. I could see everything clearly as it was directly infront of me, though I still had little control over my motor skills. I laid in bed frozen for a while, the whole time looking infront of me, I then decided I would try to "lift out." What happened next is a little difficult to put in words, but I will try to explain. I managed to lift what felt like my torso up to a 45-degree angle, yet I felt "above" the bed (as opposed to "on" the bed), my fingers where all I felt touching the bed, as they felt somewhat connected to it, or even as if the bed was tugging on them. I managed to hold this possition for what seemed like half an hour before I gave up and fell back to the bed. I closed my eyes and from behind my shut eyes I saw a very vivid diamond-like shape in between and slightly above my eyes. The shape flashed alternating red and white colors while radiating a bright yellow color. I remember thinking "is this my third-eye?" I watched the shape for a while before opening up my eyes, fully awake to a fully-controllable body. I've also been reading up on lucid dreams recently as well, in fact I had a very short lucid dream episode two days ago (I was so excited to realize this, it woke me up...); what I want to know is: does the above scenario sound like a lucid dream, something more concerning, or what? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading.

      ok,
      no need to worry about this sleep paralysis, it happens to everyone nightly, your just concious when it happens,
      i get the vibrations and paralysis too, its part of my CILD technique, i really prefer sleep/wake/sleep technique tho, ANYWAY,
      that diamond you saw was just hypogonic (spelling?) imagery;
      its the first steps into a dream,
      and the lifting from your body, well i cant really explain scientifically what it is but let me put it in my own words/expiriences:
      basically once your at the flashing moving images stage your body is ready for dreaming, prolly is thinking your dreaming, so why your feeling the sensation of 'another' body as part of your own, its just what your brain is making as your dream body, the body you feel in lucid dreams.
      when i get the paraylisis i tend to flap my dream body arms about just for fun coz its so strange feeling. anyway i hope that explains it,
