This is a...!!!
It seems that every time I realize that I'm in a dream, (Been about three or four times, now.) I feel my eyelids "let go" and I know that I'm awake. Just in case, I still try to control the dream, but I feel it slipping away fast, and I just say to myself, "Give it up, I know I'm awake." Ironically, in my last dream, I tried to wake myself up, and nothing happened, but then when I tried to make the dream go on longer, my eyelids let go. Please help me work on keeping my dreams going. I hate irony, and only almost acheiving my goals.

welcome to dreamviews Gman
your eyelids may not be letting go at all, you may just be entering a false awakening. Next time this happens you should just get up and do a reality check. It may happen because it happened once and now you expect that to happen every time, so dont expect it to happen.

When I feel my eyelids lift, I try for a second to keep the dream but I just see the inside of my eyelids...So usually I just open my eyes and turn on the TV...When should I try the reality check?
-
well, now that I know your waking up and watching TV it may not be a false awakening, but you should do a reality check as soon as you awaken. two good ways to keep a dream are to spin and rub your hands together, so you should try those.

That happened to me the first few times as well. I think that maybe you became lucid on the brink of consiousness, so you were about to wake up anyway.

In all seriousness, what I think you (You being the OP, Gmanji) should do is every time you start to realize you're dreaming, the absolute first thing you should focus on is stabilizing the dream and taking in the environment. Try not to get excited, try to be calm and relaxed. Focus and concentrate, take in your surroundings, rub your hands together and focus on the dream for a little bit.
Also, try not to close your eyes during the dream if you are. Our physical eyes have a habit of opening up with our dream eyes if we close them for even just a second :(
