Well Met!
Greetings.
Id like to start by saying thank you to all who contribute to such a wonderful website. I have overlooked and quite possibly would have missed it completely if it were not for some people voting good things about this website on stumbleupon.
As for myself I probably wont be a huge community member but will try and participate here and there. I just have a lot going on to check this site every day and take the time to post...(which is sad =( hehe)
My name is Jared but most call me Val. I am cruising through life after having an interesting couple years of a break after high school. I am 24 and gonna be starting college here soon. I just got out of the Army and gonna be going to school for nursing :)
I first learned about Lucid Dreaming actually when my friend and I took some psychadelics and he had one hellacious LD that night. This was back about 6 years or so ago. I almost didnt beleive him and we both had no idea this was possible through will power alone =p We looked it up and found some information on it, and I got into the groove of focusing thought upon it every now and then. Couple years went by and still nothing for me. I watched the movie Waking Life and started focusing harder on acheiving lucidity but alas, nothing. Then when I joined the military for 4 years I had no dreams at all. Nothing. I got kinda scared that maybe I would never have a dream again. I guess stress might have a lot to do with dreaming because the army is a pretty stressful job especially in combat arms with this war going on.
I got out in July 2007 and immediately started having vivid dreams again. So once again I've been trying to tell myself to have a lucid dream. Again nothing. I havent even had a dream yet that I even realize i am dreaming and wake up. lol So I am ultra new to this whole concept still.
After reading a couple things on your website I managed to get a dream journal going in hopes of starting on my dream recall as most of you say that is a good thing to do. And I am motivated enough to try and remember to ask myself if I am dreaming in my daily routines....I just need to pick that up as a habit anyways :)
Alright well....I suppose that will be my little introduction for myself. If anyone wants to know more about my life or have any questions on anything just ask away and I will try and answer.
Thanks again for anyone that it would be worthy at directing towards :)

Army, eh? It's always been a dream of mine to serve in the Air Force -- i've been obsessed with the military ever since i was young. Unfortunately that's not going to happen for me :(
I'd love to hear about your army experiences as well as your dreaming experiences. Welcome to the forum!

Hey Val!!
You're correct.. stress can definately impact your dream recall but starting a DJ is a step in the right "lucid" direction! :D

Thanks for the warm welcome :)
Update so far....I have only had one dream since I joined. It was actually kind of a neat one but not even close to becoming LD. Not a big deal tho....I have many more nights ahead of me and much more learning to do anyways.
Thanks again for the links and such. I do appreciate it.
