Yes, some people do get addicted to lucid dreaming. There have been cases where people have stopped going to work because they prefer to dream all day long for weeks.

Well as you can see by my lucid count I've had numeruos lucid dreams, but to be honest with you, there all very short and not that exighting at all, I think the reason I had so many was I was easily effected by practical methods like wbtb, deild, and fild (even though I have hardly tried it, I got lucids almost 50% of the time I tried) but honestly I think the best chance of someone enjoying lucid dreaming is through instant wild, though it could take along time to reach it, when you can ld whenever you want, you can increase your control, and not have to worry about loosing it the next time you go to practice just because you can't have an ld that night.
Lucids are like exploring space, thats how it feels to me, the world is totaly strange and unpredictable at first, and yes it can be exighting.
To me trying to master lucid dreaming has always been an addiction :P.
Trying to lucid dream can get addictive. I met the same (female) dream character (wink wink) several times in consecutive LD's. At one stage I was bordering on the obessional attempting to lucid dream more, with different methods. Some of my LD's could last up to 30 mins!
Eventually tho you will hit a 'dry patch' where it is difficult to LD. I jokingly call it 'Running out of lucid juice'.
This usually discourages a lot of people and it gradually becomes a 'passive' thing that happens naturally but occasionally.
If I get a spontaneous LD, I usually up my efforts over the next few weeks to have a few more whilst the lucid juice is strong!
Pride, I think you're just acting way to negative about lucid dreams and this is causing yours to be short and dull.
I doubt it, he has been quite motivated before, dilding is like you get to lucid dream more often in the beginning then compared to say practicing wild, but you got to wait along time and get lucky to increase control, with wild it's like you practice for along time, start getting lucid whenever and your control goes up in a gentle slope, were is dild it's a bumpy ride.
