What can a "natural-born lucid dreamer" do?

i'm new to all this yeah

and i was just wondering when you people talk about others that were "born with the ability to lucid dream" or are natural lucid dreamers,

to what extent do they have control over their dreams? Just like fall asleep and realize 100% of the time that they are dreaming and when they feel like changing something, they just say Gimme a dog and a dog appears effortlessly? : |

or does it just mean they get a lot of lucid dreams but not like 100% effortlessly and 100% any time they feel like it.

ryc, I'm not a "natural" but from what I understand, there are people who simply were born with the ability to "become aware that they are dreaming" when they dream. Some developed this ability to help them deal with nightmares.

I don't know if they realize this 100% of the time or if they can change things or make things appear.. I'll let the "naturals" answer those questions.

Among naturals it really varies. Mostly its just that they have had a few dreams the were lucid before. Others can sense that it is a dream and many automatically recognize dream signs.

Personally, I can't even remember how much of my current ability I had when starting but it was definitely less then I have now. Even naturals have much room for improvement.

Every natural is different, as every dreamer is in basic.

Naturals develop their skill and meet challenges just like the next lucid dreamer would.

Personally, I am a natural and was born with the ability to "realize I was dreaming." I learned to control them as time went on. And yes, basically in all of my dreams I realize I am dreaming; although in some I dont. Control varies too, sometimes it is weak, sometimes it is strong. I practice things and there is a lot that I havent yet been able to do.

Nothing is ever 100% for me. I cant always do everything perfectly as I said.

I imagine that even natural lucid dreamers cannot be aware that they are dreaming in every dream, however, they may have more control over their dreams, and it may be much easier for a natural LDer to realize that he/she is dreaming compared to a non-natural LDer.

I'm not a natural lucid dreamer, heck, even when I become lucid, I have a lot of trouble controlling the environment and even myself.

Just found out my brother has natural lucids (hardly as frequently as me) though, he didn't have to go through like a billion nightmares... :?

I'm a natural lucid dreamer. As far as I know, and remember, I've always had them. They have helped me with many nightmares, and I haven't had a nightmare in around 6 months now, even though I "should". Not all my dreams are lucid, I still have false awakenings from time to time, and I have different "levels" of lucidity. I'll know that I'm dreaming, but often I'll end up doing nothing about it, I just react differently because I know it's only a dream. Other times, mostly in the morning, especially when I can sleep in, I'm so aware of the dream that I can do just about whatever I want. Teleport myself to whereever I want to go, make people and items appear and disappear, fly, walk through walls, the only limit is my imagination. This doesn't happen everyday, but at least a few times a week.

Just the ramblings of a natural lucid dreamer... :)

sounds as if a natural pretty much just had lots of lucid dreams when they were like 5 but never knew what "lucid" meant lolz

I'm a natural LDer. I've been having LDs for as long as I can remember. I used to think everybody knew when they were dreaming. I was surpried when I found out different.

I have gotten better at LDing since I've started activly working at it. I have more LDs now. I also have more control from time to time. Like Line, I too have a lot of LDs where I just hang out and go along with the dream. Sometimes, though, I will do some pretty amazing things like control the weater with my mind, put out fires with my mind, change the way DCs look and act, breathe under water, be a superhero, have supernatural experiences, and all kinds of other stuff. I have more LDs than "regular" dreams, but not 100% of the time. I struggle with reaching my LD goals, I have dry spells, I have nightmares where I'm not lucid.

I think all "naturals" are different. But for me, the only differences between my experience with LDing and someone who has to learn, are that I didn't have to learn, I do it more, and I'm less afraid or excited by having a LD.

I was a natural until about age 14, and now I'm back here to try to get it back.

I remember having a bunch of control. Once, I wanted to hang out with a best friend of mine that lived a good bit away and he just appeared.

On the other hand, I was never able to fly.

I figure that once you are good enough, you can just call into the dream whatever you want, like I was on the verge of doing when younger.

Although I no-longer have the ability at age 16 I was born a lucid dreamer.

100% anything was possible! FULL CONTROL no boundaries!

The BEST part of lucid dreaming was that I could fly! Amazing!
I was even able to continue the same dream the next time I slept.

Flying was always the best although as I got older flying was harder and eventually I stopped dreaming altogether.

Heeh I got that too the funny look people gave you when you told them about your dreams 0_o. And then the realization that not everyones dreams are the same.

In my case my dreams have a strong sense of time, things dont jump around alot. As for control I cannot just upend the world and do as I wish. I have to learn the rules of wherever I end up and changing things always takes energy... That might be the scientist in me hanging on dearly for life to the laws of thermodynamics, my control ends up being like sorcery and magic.

The downside these days?
My mind dosent get much rest, and I discovered booze, of which I consume far too much, helps me simply sleep.
Dont get me wrong, I wouldent be who I am today without all that I learned in the Dreaming =D. Just gets overwhelming sometimes.

I think the people that learn about Lucidity have it easier, they dont have lifelong perceptions and habits to break.

Does that term even exist?

I haven't had many lucid dreams, but I think the art of controlling a dream is down to confidence and belief.

For instance, I had this excellent dream last night where though I didn't know I was dreaming, I was controlling what I did (a high level of partial lucidity apparently).

The 'character' I was in the dream was Heroes-based (based on Peter Petrelli it would seem), and in that dream I effortlessly performed feats that some people might have difficulty with when fully lucid (time control, teleportation, super strength, lighting creation, whatever [actually I was quite impressed with the time control thing, as my mind actually slowed down the pitch of environmental sounds when time was slowed but not stopped, the former being more fun IMHO!])

Whilst I was consciously deciding which one to do, the reason I was able to do it was simply knowledge that I could (since in the dream, as my 'role' I *knew* I could do these things). Much in the same way that you can walk, run, breathe and so on in the real world; why shouldn't you to be able to do it? You know you have the abilities to do these things.

I think i was born with the ability to lucid dream. i've been lucid dreaming for 3 years now. In the middle of my dream, i realize that i am dreaming, so i do the things i want like fly, talk to people i don't have the courage to talk to in real life. Yes i was able to change the setting of my dream in one blink, It was the first lucid dream that i remember. i was in a place and when i realized i was dreaming, i closed my eyes and imagined the place where i wanted to be. when i opened my eyes i found that it did work, i ended up in my classroom. then i rushed up the stairs and waited for someone i wanted to talk to within my dream.

it doesn't happen when you feel like it, it happens without you knowing it would. For mine, things appear effortlessly like when i asked for snow. when i asked for wings, i was able to fly too.
i can also experience being other people i my dream, it's like being inside another person. it's really fun and i thank God fir giving me this gift. i only found out it was lucid dreaming today though cause i only searched about it a while ago.

when i lucid dream, i get full control of myself and the setting but i cannot control other people unless i shape shift. :) it's loads of fun, i've been lucid dreaming for the past few days after a really long time. :D

i've experienced a lot of things through lucid dreaming that people cannot do in reality. ;)
